Democracy on a Roll: Judge Blocks North Dakota Voter ID Laws

Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

Adding to a string of recent voting rights victories, a judge in North Dakota on Monday blocked the state's restrictive voter ID law, saying it disproportionately impacted Native Americans.

I wouldn't go as far as "Democracy is on a roll" Deirdre, but this decision is welcome nevertheless. It's said a nation can be, must be, judged on how the most vulnerable, the "least" among us, are treated and cared-for. Our "leaders" have failed that moral test. Our "leaders" have sold themselves to power and influence, and all the rest of us - the 99% - ave been sold out, the most vulnerable most of all.

The corruption of our politics by big-money and overt voting manipulations and control, disenfranchisement of the least among us, while wealth is equated to 'free speech" is a travesty of epidemic proportions. The notion of "one person, one vote" is a thing of the past. Carny hucksterism and servitude to the most powerful has us and our republic by the throat.
