If the cost of living didn’t require both parents to work to just get by, perhaps America’s children would flourish.
This is just another example of built-in, structural economic violence against the disadvantaged by the corporate capitalistic money grabbers.
Yet again Bernie shows his quality and dedication to the Common Good by this plan that is, as he rightly says, an investment in America! An investment in our common future that will ultimately save and create trillions.
The benefits to the economy, financial, criminal and mental health of our republic is incalculable. Generations of people with the education, hope, and acuity to build strong lives and nation together. Not a society and nation built on usury, greed, exploitation and a “devil take the hindmost” mentality, but one with great potential and citizens with a sense of moral compass and belief in that quaint notion of the Golden Rule.
That great vision and dedication is reflected in Bernie Sanders platform ; in the Common Good, and building a strong nation and society to make America, and the world, truly “Great”!
The oligarchy and political shills for the status quo will attempt to pick this apart with the usual shallow attacks - “how will we pay for it”? “This is socialist”, all the shallow deceitful rubbish to make us fear and doub - to divide ust! Thay are liars and shills! The vast wealth and income inequality built-up over the past decades must be reversed, and our people and future seen as paramount, not Billionaires, corporate pirates and business parasites moving jobs overseas. They are not worthy of such obscene wealth and power over every aspect of life - beginning with childhood education and care! The true “jobs-creators” are the people beginning with a strong and nourishing childhood. We have tried that other path and its led us here; not where we need to be, and the voters have eyes to see.
The MICC Eisenhower warned against must be reined-in and the obscene spending and war-machine around the world reduced to build real peace built not on wars and domination but on principle and the understanding our leaders once respected and built. Eisenhower spoke strongly of this responsibility - a Republican.!.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children" - President/General Dwight Eisenhower, the Chance for Peace speech.
Got kids? Got some spare change? Care about the future of all children? Then donate to Sanders Campaign! Tuesday is super Tuesday so do it if you can! Lawn signs are already available to pepper your neighborhoods.
Bernie’s plans are just common sense for a population like ours.
This man is truly lovable.
And the population is waking up to this.
Such a huge and burning issue for our young families, including single parents! Thanks to Bernie (and to Elizabeth Warren, his friend) for their putting this front and center on the agenda with income inequity, climate, medical care, racial justice. This would mean so much more in resources for Head Start and Early Head Start, and quality childcare centers where their staff could get pay and training that reflect the importance of our future citizens, the kids.
DON’T TRUST BERNIE:
He’s just trying to indoctrinate them as soon as possible. You watch: he’s going to force them to read Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto!
Not free… Paid for with taxes. There is no free lunch, it is all paid for by hard working Americans who care about their children and want our tax dollars used in productive ways.
The repubs and establishment dems love to glom onto the “free stuff” meme as a way to diminish progressive plans.
This is simply refocusing (not redistributing - never use that word) precious tax dollars into arenas that help the american public - and do not help the leeching oligarchic class.
There is a new documentary called “Babies” that is very good. It explains some of the important benefits we humans have as infants. The beauty part is that anyone can benefit humanely, that you don’t have to reproduce to benefit, you just have to experience it and it is free. No one can legislate that. I would have to think twice about this plan and how this would impact families because it is more like institutionalization than I’m comfortable with.
Oh C’mon baby daycare and it is free. What could go wrong?
Well, not everything. For just one example, the likes of Goldman Sachs and Citibank won’t be getting any more free money from taxpayers. Gotta love Bernie for that.
If we have mandatory reading, or video these days, let it be “War is a Racket”
In the book, “The Nordic theory of everything” has an important chapter how Finn’s have that kind of day care which is heavily subsidized so all families can have children in a safe and professionally run system. It seems to work well for them and the other Nordic countries.
Also these examples:
" In addition to giving women the most time off, Bulgaria also received top marks in terms of pay rate. Its policy provided for nearly 46 fully paid weeks off. The least generous member of the OECD, a group of industrialized nations, is the United States , which does not guarantee women any paid maternity leave."
“In Italy , maternity leave is compulsory and women must take up to two months off from work before her due date and three months off after the baby’s birth. … In some instances, women can request to work up to one month before her due date with the approval of her doctor and employer.”
Bernie’s focus on new spending may be his way of forcing the elephant out of the room, the elephant being what is wasting all of US funding–the War Department.
