I don’t think anyone informed Republican Kevin Brady he is no longer the House Ways and Means chair after the 2018 elections. There is no way a Democrat would fight against Med4All and receiving Trump’s tax returns from the state of NY is there? Neal must be Steny Hoyer’s best bud now that AOC kicked Joe Crowley’s butt. Hey Massachusetts, don’t you have another Kennedy you can replace this idiot with?

“Modern bourgeois society with its relations of production, of exchange, and of property, a society that has conjured up such gigantic means of production and of exchange, is like the sorcerer, who is no longer able to control the powers of the nether world whom he has called up by his spells.”

While many have accused Trump of surrounding himself with yes men that are clearly dumber than he is, the same paradigm seems to exist in Nancy Pelosi’s world. Look at the facts. Every house committee chairperson is clearly either an imbecile or an obedient dupe. Nancy is taking the Democratic Party down a dangerous road prior to the 2020 election cycle. Instead of wielding her new found power, power that was granted to her by a turnout of progressive voters in the 2018 midterms, to move the party back to the left so as to provide America with a sharp contrast between themselves and the fascist GOP, she is using her new found power to circle the wagons of the Third Way and settle old political scores, all the while doing the equivalent of nothing to address the crimes of the current POTUS.
Morons like Richard Neal are living proof of Nancy’s short term plan. Delay, delay, delay, all the while hoping that Trumps presidency completely implodes and that they can then sneak yet another impotent clintonite into the White House and continue to stifle any talk of a real progressive agenda for the foreseeable future.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

how many leftists here predicted this just 3 years ago?

Nearly all of us said that Democrats with power would do nothing but investigate everything and anything they could conjure up.

And that’s come to pass. And it will if you give them power again.

Neither of these parties will do anything for those of us outside the gates of oligarchy. Neither. The evidence for that proposition is so overwhelming as to be non-controversial.

Yet there are some who simply cannot let these letters go.

I’m curious to know how a progressive President will be able to pass his or her policies when centrists and right Democrats will surely form alliances with the Republicans?

A progressive president will be forever signing executive orders from the White House.

Well, anyone that decided to ignore a Supreme Court vacancy in 2016 to “vote their conscious” basically signed up for that already.

On the flip side, Neal can’t completely control what witnesses say and fellow members discuss in a hearing setting. If a witness is asked about cost controls and a witness answers single payer systems offer the best controls, he’d have to rule them out of order to stop their testimony. Additionally, he’s not close to the first chairman in history to offer a hearing on a subject he’s not excited about. What’s key is that he is having a hearing at all. It’s not exactly uncommon, historically speaking, for a Chair to be much more obstinate.

It’s the second hearing in House history—we had the first a month or so ago—wherein single payer could receive substantial discussion and analysis. That’s actually pretty big and my hope is smart representatives will make the most out of it.

Free Speech is a very real thing here in a America, where does he live? Not here!!! The repug’s want to limit what t___p can be called in the Judiciary hearings, maybe the D behind his name should be changed to an “r”!!!

Today the force of politics is shifted from the Common Good to individual common greed and obscene excess - one person controlling more wealth than many millions; and the power to dominate the narrative. That concentrated wealth and power empowered by a compliant, complicit Congress has come to work for, and serve, vast personal wealth and power, not society, nation, world peace or a sustainable planet.via “tax cuts” and corrupt legislation. Universal not-for-profit health insurance and hopefully all health care - only one example of the change needed… The Uber-Wealthy, largely shallow, narcissistic and corrupt control the direction of life on earth - an obscenity and crime of vast proportions IMO.

The path forward to utterly change today’s destructive trajectory - rule by wealth, ignorance and greed - vulture capitalism - is now critical; THE existential threat of Climate Change; MMGW, and associated mass extinctions, planet-wide pollution by “products” and areas that cannot support healthy life.

Instead of leaders of conscience, integrity, empathy, and moral compass, moral lepers and malleable tools are foisted on us by both “parties” dominated and controlled by the system of rule by wealth - by the very monster we must destroy to survive. The few who actually work for change are marginalized by the bought-and-paid-for mass media of diversion, lies, fluff and “celebrity” worship.

Bernie Sanders is fighting for the sea-change essential to alter the power-structure of society from wealth to ideas, and, I believe, represents the way forward toward survival vs continuing rot - along with some few other (political) voices. His speech today at George Washington University will show the path forward.

" socialism as a reflection of deeply held American values like fairness and equality as he calls for a reimagining of the US economy.
“Over 80 years ago, Franklin Delano Roosevelt helped create a government that made huge progress in protecting the needs of working families,” he (Sanders) will say. “Today in the second decade of the 21st century we must take up the unfinished business of the New Deal and carry it to completion. This is the unfinished business of the Democratic party and the vision we must accomplish.”

Neal sez:
“… I mean, I helped to write the Affordable Care Act, I’m naturally in favor of expanding it.”

Well. Awfully kind of the insurance company lobbyists to allow him into the room like that.

Jerks like Neal are impeding our democracy in favor of corruption. He’s no better than Mitch or Trump for that matter.

Maybe we call it Medicare for Everyone, or free healthcare for all. If this crook is bought by drug companies then why doesn’t the Democratic party question and disqualify him from participating in any debate relative to healthcare.

Yes centrists must be purged 100%

Neal and the DNC want to call it “universal access” because their definition of “universal access” is mandating that every Murkin buy private insurance…now that IS universal LOL.

That is why you will never see “the Democratic Party question and disqualify him”.
