Democrats Can Block the Kavanaugh Nomination If They Want To

I say go for it baby! I’m with you on that. Democrats must stop bringing butter knives to a gunfight. Republicans have been playing dirty pool and the Marquis of Queensbury rules do not seem to apply to both sides. This is political war and if democrats won’t stand up for the vast majority of the American people, then I am afraid that many Americans will feel that we have no choice but to bring real guns into play and start a real civil war. The place to stop this is in Congress now. If democrats don’t get radical now, the American people will have no choice but to get even more radical later. We are all boiling mad and we are only going to get even angrier and it’s bad enough as it is. This is very extreme for me because I am a peace and love, live and let live kind of a person, but this is TRYANNY and we cannot stand for it. If even I am this mad, anything can happen and if democrats don’t get radical right now they will be indirectly responsible for a civil war. I’m fed up with the Koch brothers and their selfish and cruel agenda taking over our country. Democrats need to stop being wimps and get real here. I say go for it!

He will likely be confirmed because the entire political class is thoroughly corrupt to the core. They only care about more riches gained for themselves. No surprise here.

The DINO Democratic “leadership” and many Senators and Congress-members have proven to be gutless sycophants, incapable of being a force for the Common Good and sellout to business as usual and common greed! They are co-opted by the sellout DLC wing of politics. Why won’t these people actually fight for anything? Are they just too timid and cowardly? Perhaps because they don’t really believe in anything…outside their narrow, self-interested positions as agents for the status quo!

Pelosi and Schumer must go…this is the moment of truth…either they fight for the people and oppose Kavanaugh by any and all means possible - screw decorum! - or be forever branded the craven instruments of the death of the American experiment!

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. I’m 90% certain that the cretin Kavanaugh will be seated. I just don’t think feckless politicians have the spine for any real thing that would help the average American. Without a rush to judgement it’s been that way for most of the history of the country. History, as taught in schools glosses over many facts that show we don’t really live in democracy. At best it’s a plutocracy, controlled by a mind-meld of corporate and govt to ensure production proceeds and capital flows nonstop to the top. It is what capitalism is.

The Koch’s are nothing new to the scene. Read about J.P. Morgan or the Rockefeller’s they were greed and exploitation times a thousand. They made wealth off death. Just like all the military contractors of today; death = wealth.

He’ll be confirmed because there are 51 votes to do so. Here’s the deal: call Collins and Murkowski. They are their caucus “moderates.” Their phones should be ringing off the hook. If you live in Maine or Alaska, that will matter more than bitching a Democrats by miles.

Every Republican pundit, politician, and strategist who read this article are praying, “PLEASE GOD, MAKE THEM DO THIS!”

The problem is they don’t want to meaningfully resist Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh is the perfect excuse for the Dems to keep blaming the progressives and those who didn’t vote for their corporate candidate. “See this is why you should have voted for Hillary” they will scream once Kavanaugh gets confirmed. The Dems care not for the people. The party that did has died long ago. Maybe they never truly existed.

The Roberts’ Five Court has made a mockery of justice and the law with their 92% of decisions favoring the wealthy and powerful and would happily strip the people of decades of hard fought rights.

They have made a mockery of a formerly valued and trusted institution. They have not a care or shame that cases are brought before them for the Court’s rubber stamp of approval for all things benefiting corporate and wealthy special interests. Why should the all powerful and wealthy have the likes of a court preventing them from their expanding exploitations of the people and total control of the government. They own it regardless.

The Robert’s Five simply eliminate what few obstacles remain so they have a clear easy route to not answer for or to anyone for their abuses of workers, destruction of the environment, etc., etc., etc. The American people know SCOTUS is a sham court there to fulfill the demands of the wealthy. How sad is that? How can we respect any Justices but the minority.

The Roberts’ Five bring complete disgrace to the institution that is SCOTUS. Kavanaugh will be the icing on the rancid cake to usher in the complete demise of democracy aided by the endless supply of dark money. This is a country of dark monied interests, for dark monied interests and and By DARK MONIED INTETERESTS. NO HUMANITY HERE. After all, money is the only thing that matters.

You’re plan only works if all dems vote no, you know that’s not going to happen. Unless you have a different plan, I’d go with Mr. Neuburgers.

I’m not sure it’s really cowardice, timidity or decorum. I think the Dems are just as scared by the prospect of a blue wave as the Republicans. The way the game works now, Democrats can all vote heroically for the people’s interest–knowing the Republican majority will give the rich and corporations whatever they want. If Dems take over one or both houses, a few of them will have to defect and vote with the Republicans on each matter in order to make sure evryone’s funders get whatever they want. They can rotate who has to do the dirty deed, and that one can emphasize everything else in the newsletters home. But with the Repubicans in control, Democrats have the perfect excuse for making no effort to change anything. If they have any conscience at all though, they should be afraid of what putting Kavanaugh on the court for as long as this country lasts will mean.

Mr. Neuburgers “plan” won’t work either in that case.

Capitalism is a bad way to base a government on. The Capitol all goes to those who already Have Capitol. Socialism is better, think of why, Public post office, public libraries, Public parks, We have always had some socialism in o ur government, thing Social Security, and all the other things I listed.
Of course it would need to not be hard core, just more of the people for the people.

I hope you are wrong on this, but I fear you are right. The Robert’s 5 are bad enough. This guy would be overkill.
The Supreme Court is one place that should be impartial. Politics should never entered in to it.

Because it’s long term, they could be shamed into doing the right thing by party leaders. Sitting back and expecting them to deny his conformation hasn’t worked up to this point on other issues, so there’s no reason to expect it to work now.

Time for everyone to lean not only on Collins and Murkowski but also on the dim Dems in red states, like Donnelly, Heitkamp, McCaskill, and Manchin😝. Use whatever arguments make sense to you.

How about Feinstein?

And here’s your argument: If you want to depress the turn out of your base and instead count on the votes of moderate Republicans like Hillary did, then vote to confirm Kavanaugh. Do the math, place your bet, let the polling tell you what to do, because apparently your own principles are up for grabs…
