Despite McConnell Vow to Obstruct, Senate Democrats Introduce Democracy Reform Bill

Andrea Germanos, staff writer

Three weeks after a nearly identical measure passed the House, Senate Democrats introduced sweeping pro-democracy legislation—but the path to the floor may be blocked by the GOP.

HR1, the For the People Act, would enact reforms including banning partisan gerrymandering, establishing automatic voter registration, strengthening the Voting Rights Act, and shining a light on so-called dark money.

Power grab? So says the arch power grabber! It is difficult to look at such an emotionally stunted, mean spirited individual.

"It’s Impossible For The Republicans To Do So."

They might as well be dead, when the rain comes.

I’d like to note whether the Senate version, like the House version, has the provision in which the amount of donation money a party must get to qualify for public funding is quintupled, essentially sneakily barring any third party from having a shot at elections. Given the constant collusion between the dominant corporate wing of the Democratic Party with the Republicans, we NEED alternatives to have a chance of reform. If this provision is in there, I can’t support this bill. This version IS a power grab–in relation to the Republican Party it merely makes things fairer but by elbowing any other party off the stage it’s an illegitimate power grab.

Well, certainly we need that law! It would be more helpful if none of the Democratic Senators were in AIPAC’s bloody money bags and Apartheid hands!

This is most deffinately a step in the correct direction, get this passed and then we can shame individual candidates that continue to support/profit from the Israeli apartheid.

“…prove they are not the party of corruption” !!!
Is this a joke? They have already proven they are the party of corruption, from their attacks on FDR’ New Deal, to instigating Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs, to Gerald Ford covering up the Kennedy assassination, to Nixon’s Watergate, (and Ford covering that up too!) to Reagan’s Iran Contra Affair and “Dirty Wars” and George Bush the First pardoning all the Reagan convicted felons, to Mitch McConnell’s TOTAL OBSTRUCTIONIST POLICY (which the corporate MSM seems unwilling to call obstructionist as often as they accuse Democrats of obstruction) the GOP is nothing if not entirely filthy stinking dirty to the core. Not only are they the proven party of corruption, they have reached a new low in which they are brazen about their bad faith and they’ve got the MSM working with them.

Why does that turtle in the headlight (McConnel) have so much power. After all he is just one senator with one vote.

Isn’t it clear by now? McConnell could care less about democracy or what the american people think or want. He is thoroughly corrupt, capable of any scheme and re-elected over and over again by the people in Kentucky. What in the hell do these people in Kentucky think and care about our government and democracy? Apparently not much. They’ve got their good old boy in the house (well Senate). They know he’s evil but he’s their evil boy and he’s got power. Power and money are the only things that matter to these people. This is a game and McConnell has all the cards.

It must take a long time for the american people to get the message. I guess drugs are preferable.

But he’s a “good old boy” from Kentucky.
