Disregarding Human Rights Concerns, US Resumes Arm Shipments to Egypt

Jon Queally, staff writer

Despite widespread repression of human rights activists, political opponents, and journalists that have garnered worldwide condemnation, the Egyptian government will once again be the recipient of U.S. weapons shipments and military aid after the Obama administration announced it was ending a freeze of such support on Tuesday.

This is a country that only knows how to suppress its citizenry, now being supported to the tune of $1.3 billion per year military aid! Not help with the industry, agriculture, or anything useful to the people, but military. With the exception of Israel to the east, Egypt has no likely opponents elsewhere. And Egypt won't fight Israel again.

Not so long ago the world was teary eyed and full of hope at the Egypt spring that ousted Mubarak, but after a suitable delay everyone forgot it, the Muslim Brotherhood has been all but destroyed, and the generals are back in business.

This heralds a period of brutal dictatorship which will lead us back to yet another Islamic retaliation. I'm sure there's a nursery rhyme about it...

Sisi and Bibi sittin' in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g...

OK, so al-Sisi has given full assurance to further clamp down on Gaza...

I remember back in '71 the light bulb went off over my head that there would never be peace...

And that retaliation will result in more financial assistance and arms sales.

An Empire is what an Empire does.

And the Disguised Global Capitalist Empire that is only 'posing' as our former country does exactly what a Global Empire does.

So IF the majority of Americans are smart enough to understand the immutable truth that you should judge "not what someone 'says', but their 'actions' as revealing the truth", then we the people of the U.S. should clearly understand that when faux-Emperor/president Obama merely 'says' "We're Not ther for Empire" (which he precisely 'said' while his 'action' was bombing Libya, then we the not stupid majority of America should be smart enough to KNOW BY HIS ACTIONS that this country is a deceitful, lying, murderous, looting, greedy, vicious, war-criminal, illegal, immoral, and precisely typical EMPIRE --- because all the actual 'actions' of the thing that calls itself America has been 'acting' exactly like a fucking Empire for decades, while it only 'says' (claims, lies, and deceives others) that it is a normal 'functional democracy', and even an 'exceptionalist' country, and the 'essential country', when it actually, consistently, and through all supposed electoral changes ever four years of supposed leadership between the neocon lying 'R' Vichy party and the slighter better lying neoliberal-con 'D' Vichy party keeps doing and ACTING the exact same way as a lying fucking Global EMPIRE ACTS.

Judge us --- judge U.S. --- not by what what both lying disguised Vichy parties (and the ruling coo rate, financial, militarist, media/propaganda, extra-legal ruling Empire sectors) 'SAY, but by what that Disguised Global Capitalist EMPIRE DOES!

AnEmpire IS what an Empire DOES (period)

More proof Obama is a Neocon bankster and political fraud.

The Amerikan Empire only cares about human rights when it is expedient to the world wide agenda of the plutocratic .01%!

#11

That is the reason Obama was selected for President because the econo MIC elite knew he was their boy and a potential war criminal. Now, it looks like they have selected Hitlery as their next war criminal quisling!

I agree with the statement by the Republicans that we have to take back our country except that will not happen until both corrupt parties are kicked out of D.C. and there is complete regime change that is: of the 99%; by the 99%; and for the 99%. Until then, the .01% and their selected war criminals, will continue to be in complete political, control.

Especially, in terms of the Amerikan Empire and its foreign policies, we are all living in a fascist military dictatorship! Where the average American citizen has absolutely no participation in political power and where every four years the oligarchs give the American electorate no choice because they have already selected the next President for them...only they keep most of the sheeple ignorant of that fact by making them believe their vote counts!

Question for O's mouthpiece at next press conference:

"Is it the position of the Administration that Venezuela has a worse human rights record than Egypt? If so, how do you arrive at that conclusion?"

#13

"And if not, why aren't you also sending weapons (or humanitarian non-lethal aid) to Venezuela as you are to Egypt?"

Shantiananda, Close but no lighting of the cigar yet --- or rather no igniting of the Revealution yet --- the Second American Revolution against EMPIRE.

Being against the "plutocratic 1%" is never going to birth a Revolution. The First (and only successful) American Revolution was against EMPIRE.

To humbly correct your comment, "The Amerikan Empire only cares about human rights when it is expedient to the world wide agenda of the EMPIRE!"

Actually, the Empire is a Disguised Global Capitalist Empire, which while HQed in America is only 'posing' as America.

"The U.S. state is a key point of condensation for pressures from dominant groups around the world to resolve problems of global capitalism and to secure the legitimacy of the system overall. In this regard, “U.S.” imperialism refers to the use by transnational elites of the U.S. state apparatus to continue to attempt to expand, defend, and stabilize the global capitalist system. We are witness less to a “U.S.” imperialism per se than to a global capitalist imperialism. We face an EMPIRE of global capital, headquartered, for evident historical reasons, in Washington." The only "Human Rights Concerns" the US Fourth Reich has is whether those humans servilely submit to them, or can be blown up or imprisoned at a substantial profit.
* The Reich no longer recognizes "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" unless the happiness comes in billion$.
* The rest of us serfs are expendable.
