Does Mitch McConnell Really Give a Damn About the Supreme Court?

Michael Winship

Many years ago, I worked on a documentary about the how and why of political TV ads. The primary focus was on two media consultants: the late Bob Squier, a Democrat; and Bob Goodman, Republican.

One ad of which Goodman was especially proud was for a fellow in Kentucky running against Todd Hollenbach, Sr., the incumbent judge/executive of Jefferson County. Produced in 1977, the spot featured a farmer complaining about taxes that he claimed Judge Hollenbach had raised and then lied about.

Political gamesmanship in this country has always been ugly. When the news component of the media were viewed as a public service and not expected to make profit, things were better than they are now. The profit-driven "news" entities of today are largely responsible for the clown-car show of one party and the protect-the-establishment-darling show of the other. Four decades of disastrous decisions have imperiled the little taste of democracy that once existed in this country.

Until citizens read "Dark Money" by Jane Mayer, they have only a surface understanding of how deep the Koch Brothers' (and cohorts) money maze goes and the impact it has on most Congressional and Senatorial decisions.

I have NO doubt that the Koch Brothers put out a memorandum letting McConnell and others know that if they don't manage to tie this Supreme Court nomination up (to ensure another pro-Big Business dunce to keep the court VEERED to the Right)... the money machine will come to an abrupt stop.

This is right-on:

"What’s more, McConnell is desperate to keep a conservative majority on the Court to preserve the unbridled flow of campaign cash that the Citizens United decision let loose and that he so successfully has tapped for himself and the GOP."

Meanwhile, Obama, the Manchurian Republican floats the name of a Republican Governor for the Court? THAT is what the dingbat squad is opposing.... likely, another one of their own?

MORE POINTEDLY, MaCONNELL must be STRIPPED of his SENATE POSITION, forcibly REMOVED FROM THE SENATE FLOOR
& IMPRISONED. He is UNFIT TO LEAD & UNFIT TO FOLLOW !

Just an extra point; until Cruz came on the scene, Mitch McConnell must be the ugliest Senator in the GOP.
