Does President-Elect Trump Spell Doom for the Planet?

Let’s get a grip on reality here, shall we !

What good have all of those politicians done who do know climate change is real?

Zip !

The Pentagon knows climate change is man made and a clear and present danger - what Trump thinks is almost irrelevant.

Nature bats last in this game.

And I agree with the comment in the article that we, we being the people of the world, have all the tools and info needed to turn things around - with or without Exxon, the Koch Brothers, or Donald Trump.

Look - the USA was severely wounded back in 1963 - and the wounds have been suppurating ever since.

Today the animal, in pain and in rage, has turned on its own wounds and ripped them open, allowing the blood and pus and poison to erupt onto the surface, for all the world to see, and in the instinctual hope that with these internal poisons now leaving the body, all will be well.

But the outcome is still unclear - the animal may yet die.

The difference today is that were this wound not ripped open - death was a certainty.

The Republicans have never pretended to be other than what they are - conservative and fearful people.

The Democrats, since perhaps the time just after Jimmy Carter - ceased evolving - to all intents and purposes died as a party of the less fearful people - and I say - may they go away and stay away.

It is time for a new party.

Sanders was handed the Green Party on a silver platter by Jill Stein, and had not the balls to take it.

Out with all of them.

In with the new.

Agree BillGee 100 percent! The DNC can thank itself for the Trump Presidency. Only an uninformed ignoramus would think otherwise. “Everyday People” must stop blaming each other and start holding those in power accountable for their actions.

Don’t blame Jill Stein or Gary Johnson.
She lost because she was a horrible candidate, the polling back in the primaries showed she would lose to Trump while Bernie Sanders would beat Trump by a large margin.
Clinton, the DNC and the MSM conspired to make sure Clinton would be the chosen one.
They have no one to blame but themselves for putting Trump into the white house.
Your claim that the votes for Stein cost Hillary the election don’t hold up. Hillary got more votes overall than Trump did, just as Gore got more votes than GWB did. Put some of your anger at the way presidents are chosen in this country. If we had a “One Person-One Vote” situation as you would think we would have in a Democracy, then Hillary would be our president in January.

Perhaps you should ponder this piece by Glenn Greenwald before reducing a complex issue into a simplistic projection of blame and denial which will only leads to further collapse. Your vile accusatory statement has no substance and is the antithesis of critical thinking.

“For those who tried to remove themselves from the self-affirming, vehemently pro-Clinton elite echo chamber of 2016, the warning signs that Brexit screechingly announced were not hard to see. Two short passages from a Slate interview I gave in July summarized those grave dangers: that opinion-making elites were so clustered, so incestuous, so far removed from the people who would decide this election — so contemptuous of them — that they were not only incapable of seeing the trends toward Trump but were unwittingly accelerating those trends with their own condescending, self-glorifying behavior.”

Exactly! We now have the catastrophe that should get the progressive left in this country to change things. If 4 years of Trump and GOP congress doesn’t do it, nothing will.

Wait, what? How is Sanders to blame for "enabling| Trump? That is utter nonsense.

Sanders didn’t choose to lose the primary.

Oh well, this is not for us now, but look at it anyway:

We have to give Trump 4 years to screw up things so badly, that progessive ideas will finally be accepted by a majority of US. Maybe then,- maybe then…

No, but Bernie chose to back Clinton when he was the much stronger candidate vs. Trump; furthermore, Bernie’s campaign was still soliciting funds when he knew the convention was rigged against him and he would eventually back HRC. I quit backing Bernie when he said he would back the nominee for POTUS because I knew and he knew… right there and then, that it would not be him!

Bernie did not get the nomination. Accept it and get over it.

If you think, that he even had a snowflake’s chance in a blast furnace, to run as an independent or for the Greens (just look at Jill’s figures), you have another ‘think’ coming.
He took the best and most likely tack to succeed, by joining Hillary.
Look at the bright side: Trump won, because he was anti establishment. After he has had 4 years to screw things up, we will hopefully get that vote.

The good news is, that now Bernie or somebody like him, in case he feels no longer physically fit enough at then age 79, can run from inside the Dem. Party against Trump. That would not have been possible, had Hillary won. We would then have to wait to 2024
Meanwhile organizations like https://brandnewcongress.org1 can build up a slate of capable candidates to run in 2018 and 2020 to provide the support structure for a progressive POTUS.
In adversity, there is often opportunity

You are deluding yourself. The first thing to do is admit you have a problem. The second thing to do is stop externalizing your problem–by blaming others. The third…well you get the picture.

Why do you think Stein supporters owe your candidate their votes? Really? That’s rather presumptuous isn’t it? Why not demand that the Republicans vote for your neoliberal candidate? You certainly have more in common.

“The earth has been in existence for billions of years.”
And more than a few times…has destroyed over 90% of all living things on it because of climate changes. Only human arrogance denies it could happen again.

Are you kidding me? You have it so backwards it’s
Know what, never mind.
It’s too late and will be even later after trump’s cabinet from hell is in place.

No we don’t. You Hillary supporters own ALL OF IT! You backed the corrupt, warmongering corporatist who lied through her teeth and insulted the left at every chance she got. And you enabled her to do it. And kicked us Bernie supporters all along the way. Don’t blame us for refusing to support the corporate takeover of our government. Blame yourself for refusing to see how unliked she really was. Maybe insulting people isn’t the best way to convince them to vote your way.

How about blaming the 50-plus million people in this country who voted for Trump? Not mad at them, eh? Hypocrite.

Adversity often leads to opportunity!

Yes, and if that statement is true we certainly will have a plethora of opportunities in the Trump administration!

Clinton would be much worse for environment as her promises are empty words, just as B. hussein Obama 's were. Trump needs a better science adviser who understand that the only way to freedom from fossil corporations is for each home tio take care of their energy needs by harvesting solar, wind, geothermal and other renewable energy from their roofs, back yards and small neighborhoods. We must abandoned large grids of electricity, water and other materials and become energy and water self-sufficiency.

Hilary CLinton and her sexual predator husband Bill is a human disaster as she had no integrity whatsoever and everything coming from her mouth is just deception.

Paris treaty just as all other climate treaties are just a lot of hot air, getting hotter as those politicians ahd burned lots of fossil fuels to go to nice places and blabber nonsense, while destroying Western civilization. The solution is for everybody to take care of THEIR energy needs by harvesting solar, wind, and geothermal energy at their roofs, back yards or small neighborhoods and driving electric cars which could also store harvested renewable energy in its batteries…

Stop expecting politicians to do ANYTHING for you and be an INDEPENDENT , SELF-SUFFICENT American and not an ignorant helpless patsy!
