Down the Memory Hole: NYT Erases CIA’s Efforts to Overthrow Syria’s Government

Adam Johnson

FAIR has noted before how America’s well-documented clandestine activities in Syria have been routinely ignored when the corporate media discuss the Obama administration’s “hands-off” approach to the four-and-a-half-year-long conflict.

According to this report today ISIS tried to Ambush Russian Marines inside Syria and were defeated in detail. A number of ISIS members were captured.

The larger story is this.

ISIS members captured had in their possession a recent SATELLITE image of a major Syrian base with detailed mages of all military assets there.

If this report accurate does it mean ISIS has its own Satellites in space or did they just Google it?

Interesting that we've got to start reading the paper like this. I talked to someone about the press in the USSR after it had collapsed, he mentioned that you just had to know how to read the paper; then you could be as informed as any westerner.

It's not just what's said, it is what's not said that's also important. Especially if you're in a totalitarian state. (inverted, or not)

EXCELLENT blog. Thanks.

It worth pointing out that Abu Omar Shishani who is mentioned in the article was trained by US special forces. They have openly admitted as much and referred to him as a "star pupil" As recently as 2013 he was working directly under the US umbrella.

One of the reasons JFK decided he had to break up the CIA is he believed they almost manipulated the US and the USSR into a Nuclear war over the Bay of Pigs incident. The USA in its quest for world dominance is on a very dangerous course.

Yes, too bad that instead the CIA broke up JFK and sent 55,000 American soldiers to their deaths along with some estimated 2 million Vietnamese!

A big thanks for your comment Shantianada. I always support the return to JFK because if that wasn't the beginning of our Grief, it certainly was a turning point. Thanks too to the Dulles Brothers...

"As the military build-up and posturing in Syria between Russia and the United States escalates, policy makers and influencers on this side of the Atlantic are urgently trying to portray the West’s involvement in Syria as either nonexistent or marked by good-faith incompetence. By whitewashing the West’s clandestine involvement in Syria, the media not only portrays Russia as the sole contributor to hostilities, it absolves Europe and the United States of their own guilt in helping create a refugee crisis and fuel a civil war that has devastated so many for so long."

Plausible deniability, the covert cover of cowards... and used to mask events for decades.

Perfect Siouxrose.

I can turn on Google Earth and see my own car in the drive. One may presume that even some Arabs are computer literate and have computers. Can Google be charged with aiding and abetting the enemy?

Don't forget the Laotians and Cambodians and the other 1 million Vietnamese. Don't also forgot that in the same 10 year period, some 80 000 USAians were murdered in the USA by USAians.

Yes. Thanks for the reminder.
