April 2nd is Equal Pay Day, a reminder that there is still a significant pay gap between men and women in our country. The date represents how far into 2019 women would have to work to be paid the same amount that men were paid in 2018. On average in 2018, women were paid 22.6 percent less than men, after controlling for race and ethnicity, education, age, and geographic division.
A woman’s work is never done
Ain’t tryin’. The pay gap is a disgrace and must be eliminated immediately.
Wait until some CEO is gonna read this and decides to save on payroll and hire women only.
Unfortunately for the said CEO, if you compare men and women in the same job, not only “race and ethnicity, education, age, and geographic division” the pay gap narrows to less than 5%. Could it be 0? I guess it could. But it is not 20%.
