Those plutocrats calling for an end to social distancing and all that ought to go to a hospital and ,without wearing any PPE, shake the hands of the people there dying from Covid-19. Until they do so, I cannot listen to anything they have to say.

Dave Zirin has an awesome quote regarding the rapaciousness of plutocrats in the Time of Corona:

It would shame a nation of savages what the billionaire class has done in this country. - Dave Zirin

The 1% consider Naomi Klein’s book Shock Doctrine to be a how-to manual that enables them to maximize their exploitation of every crisis.

I am full time resident in a very small town in the upper midwest where there is a very obvious class distinction. It is a tourist town, many people come here to their second homes, to hike, bike, fish, cross country ski. The population that remains through the winter months are for the most part, people that work for those with second homes; the local businesses, handymen, plumbers, landscapers etc.

While April here can be the epitome of “the cruelest month” given it is thaw/mud/flood/wintry mix season after months of bone chilling cold and gray, I love it because it is empty, quiet and road bans go into effect! No trucks! Few people!

This April it is packed here. Most of the vehicles have out of state license plates on their SUV’s. Sure enough, people that would have stay tucked away in their winter homes (in Florida, Arizona, California etc.) until late May have returned to our little town, ignoring the stay at home order ----flagrantly and without a second thought as to what it could (will) do to our limited health care facilities here or the people that work for them.

I spent hours on the phone trying to call various powers that be in the state to try to thwart what may be a tsunami of illness that will overwhelm our tiny village-- to no avail.
No one I spoke with wants to do anything. Those that do, haven’t a clue as to what to do. At a minimum, these people should be heavily fined . . .

This, of course, is the micro level of what the author addresses in the article which ties into the larger issue of plutocracy/lack of empathy and perhaps ultimately the demise of much of life on earth.

I hope some of these insanely and wickedly rich people get infected and see that their money and dumb ideas and ideology don’t save them from Covid. We’re in the same boat, time to start moving in a collective direction. If we don’t significantly after all this tragedy, what will cause a more sane shift?

These people should have all their possessions confiscated, and put to work at the cash register without any protection, working for the same wage as the cashier. They haven’t got the least idea what it is to have to survive on 10 $ or less an hour, and they are talking for these people… safe in their second homes. Or third, or boat…

Ok, here’s an idea based on an old organization that was much in vogue in the southern states from around the mid-1860s to, I dunno, now? They were famous for wearing sheets and sporting childish monikers. Anyway, we could take a lesson from them except we might wear a lot of green. We could call ourtselves the Dexter Morgan Brigade and just shoot all these assholes. Better yet, we might infect them with covid-19. If they don’t die from it, then we shoot’em.
Who’s in?

can we get all these folks together, let’s say a place like Monaco, along with all the other socially responsible folks that frequent places like that and send one of our excellent drones loaded with a 10 megaton nuclear device and in one fell swoop get rid of maybe 40% of the problems of the world? To quote the Beach Boys, “wouldn’t it be nice”.

Ya know the most important part of this story that remains unmentioned? All of these mostly old fucks will never get “Corona” because first they got the bucks, and secondly they don’t really have to come in contact too often with the diseased “common folks”.

OF COURSE they do. They ALWAYS prioritize themselves and “their” wealth over EVERYTHING. That is their operating system. They cannot do otherwise.

Wouldn’t that be “loverly?”

I’m in. I can get a horse…
This is the nadir of neoliberalism and libertarianism. This is Ayn Rand’s wet dream. Every person for themselves, and the devil take the hindmost. But we voted for them. Remember that. Back in 1980, we just loved Raygun. Then his successors, didn’t matter which party. We kept getting more and more selfish. Reality TV shows fed the sociopathy. This is now the ultimate reality show. Where 50 states had to somehow outbid foreign countries for needed medical supplies from American companies. Profits over people.
I now repudiate my American citizenship. I would move if I could. I stopped being a Christian when I grew up and realized hell is just a controlling device by the rich and powerful. And I’ve been a democratic socialist since I could vote.

These rich guys are running off to second and third homes they might own in resort cities and the Country. So many are starting to land at those areas small airports the people that live there full time are concerned this will just allow COVID to spread.

This pandemic shows the rich for what they really are. Assholes and jerks, the lot of them.

The hero worship of the wealthy, which the very thing that allowed Donald Trump to have a reality tv show that ran for years, has to end. They are a pathetic lot. Their point of views are worthless. These high “net worth” individuals have the least to contribute to any society. Any time one opens his mouth it an attempt to ensure the money keeps flowing into his pockets. Nothing more.

I don’t give a flying damn what these moneyed sociopaths want. I refuse to die for anyone’s stock portfolio. If they want “normalcy”(itself a bastard word coined by the redoubtable Warren G. Harding) so badly, then they should go first into the virus-infected world. The rest of us will hunker down and begin planning the new normal.

It looks like the billionaires are about to lose a lot of money by creating a major shortage of workers for their companies.

Or are they trying for a rather grisly improvement of the Republican party by killing off many of the older members of the Republican party, and therefore give more power to the younger members who tend to have more progressive ideas?

Storm the gated communities with Corona virus.

Fortunately all billionaires are not cut from the same cloth. I know one who is paying every one of his employees, whether they are working, working from home, or unable to work because of distancing issues.
