Even Hillary Clinton Thinks Arctic Drilling 'Not Worth the Risk'

Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

Jumping aboard an increasingly popular bandwagon, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday made her clearest statement yet against drilling for oil in the Arctic Ocean off Alaska.

The Arctic is a unique treasure. Given what we know, it's not worth the risk of drilling. -H

The operative word is: "given what we know". After the Wall Street whore is elected: we know that we can drill with very little risk.

The timing of her announcement couldn't be more transparent. She waits for it to be a done deal THEN plays her part on stage to bewilder the masses. The CEO of Shell in this instance must give the whole charade a chuckle as he writes a check to Hillary.

Anyone who doesn't recognize this as posturing for the Left, before moving hard Right after her nomination, is naive enough to still believe that Barack Obama is a liberal... and an environmentalist.

Dear Hillary: How's it feel to be on your own, like a complete unknown... This is the where the Clinton Machine starts to figure out where the between is at the " intersectionality " of a rock and a hard place. Today in HuffPo some VERY IMPORTANT PERSON suggested a Biden/Warren ticket as the best chance of defeating the Bush Machine. The 1%ers are not getting much for their money, so far. And, please, quit calling her a Goldwater Girl, too. She's more than that. Yeah, she is, she certainly is.

CDs really could get a bit more suitably circumspect with the narratives:
Even Hillary Clinton Thinks Arctic Drilling 'Not Worth the Risk'
Obama thought Guantanamo should be closed.
Since when was there a correlation between what presidential candidates said, and what fate proved they really thought?

shifting one's rhetoric to the left is an astonishingly far cry from shifting them to the left. In Hillary's case, anyone who takes her rhetoric at face value at this point should just lose their club card for typing on the Internet.

#10

loyal Democrats really struggle with the whole 'rhetoric /= truth' thing. Apparently it's inconceivable that their own candidates would ever lie.

Lots of candidate's positions seem to be "evolving" nowadays.

Go Bernie!

Biden and Warren on "On the Issues" are drug warriors. How can drug warriors be against mass incarceration and disenfranchisement of minorities when most of these are victims of the War on Drugs?

The Arctic will be free of ice possibly this year. We are in abrupt Climate Chaos. What we see happening now - western forests on fire, droughts, floods, record braking heat waves, global heat records, record freezing winters - will be repeated next year on a more deadly scale. We are not going back to a predictable climate. We are putting massive amounts of green house gases into the atmosphere. Obama is not a leader on climate change - opening up the Arctic to drilling and opening up the Atlantic for drilling and unlimited fracking - Obama is part of the Climate problem. We need to deal with this problem NOW! The feedback climate loops are beginning to close the climate game and send humans to extinction. We are now in the 6th great extinction and we caused it. The last great animal extinction was 95 million years ago. It is time to act. We cannot wait. We are in deep trouble. This is the worse crises humans have ever faced.

" Smilen Joe " would be a hard nut to crack that's for sure. He's a true believer, on the surface it appears, but maybe he actually buys into the bullshit or believes his own; yikes. Warren I think could be brought around to seeing the insanity behind our incarceration rates and drug enforcement malfeasance. I think this ticket legitimizes Biden and Warren wouldn't go near it. She's aligned with The Bernster, methinks.

She can "talk left" all she wants but the "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" is always there for her Wall Street and Banker backers. They understand.

#19

You are right on the money for this one chicken!

#20

Bernie who?!!

#22

Biden has wanted to be President for a long time. I think he'll do or say anything to get elected. Warren is principled and may not go against her principles even when she's wrong about the WOD.

#23

This is how we know what Hillary thinks: "Jumping aboard an increasingly popular bandwagon, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday made her clearest statement yet against drilling for oil in the Arctic Ocean off Alaska."

A bandwagon comes along. Hillary jumps aboard, hoping it will pull her stalled campaign out of the mud she has heaped upon herself.

Does that apply to ALL the candidates?
