Everyone Wins If the GOP Health Plan Fails, Even Republicans

Monique Morrissey

OK, maybe it’s a slight exaggeration, but almost everyone—99 percent of Americans and all members of Congress—will win if the GOP health plan fails.

Let’s start with Congress. Democrats win if they vote against a bad, unpopular plan. Republicans, meanwhile, minimize their losses if they vote it down—even for the wrong reasons. Basically, incumbents in both parties are better off if it goes away, though Republicans have to go through the motions since they’ve bluffed that they had a better plan than “Obamacare” since day one.

Ever since he arrived in DC in 1999. shortening the life of the Medicare trust fund and gutting Medicare has been one of Paul Ryan's highest priorities. Trumpcare is his first stab at it. This $346 billion cut will give him the narrative he needs to gut the program.

Ray, Please stop calling it 'Trumpcare.' Any reference to any Healthcare initiative with his 'little hands' in it, must be more accurately referred to as, 'TrumpDon'tCare.'

Besides, it will really piss him off if this name catches on with the media.

Why not have government negotiate with business for the best prices of all goods and services?
We could have the best business choices plus universal coverage by government.

Seeing how GOP operatives serially characterize themselves as successful businessmen and women, why doesn't TrumpDon'tCare have provisions for negotiating drug prices and medical services. Neither I or any successful business operative I ever knew would have been successful if we were not good at negotiating EVERYTHING.

Sound negotiating skills is key to being successful in business !

This wad of nincompoops can barely negotiate the service on another pitcher of beer how can you be even thinking that they will manage to improve on the ACA? A few of the people who cobbled that together actually cared about the folks that hired them.

► It'd be a great idea to negotiate with Big Pharma for drug prices

Cut half the military budget and we'll have enough money for all our needs and still have the most powerful military by far

"Why not have government negotiate with business for the best prices of all goods and services?"

Great idea! Now, if only we could get Congress to reverse the law that prohibits the government from using its bulk purchases as a means of negotiating a better price with Big Pharma, for starters. There are many little things like this that don't catch the public's eye that are sure indications that our Congress has been bought by the corporate elite.
