Exploiting Climate-Fueled Disasters on Behalf of Logging Industry, Zinke Pilloried for Blaming Wildfires on 'Radical Environmentalists'

Julia Conley, staff writer

Instead of addressing the root causes that scientists and experts say are fueling some of the unprecedented wildfires now ravaging communities in California and other western states, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is himself under fire on Wednesday after penning an op-ed that critics argue shows the top Trump official exploiting the ongoing infernos as a way to push the business interests of logging companies and other extractive industries.

No forests, no forest fires.

It’s all so simple, really.

#3

Global warming is a hoax. California needs to get used to prolonged droughts. Mega droughts of 30-50-150 years are the historical norm for the region. The last 200 years was in an abnormally wet period.

#4

Zinke is a lousy capitalist. Think how much more money there is in rebuilding and new real estate sales. That’s one good reason capitalists bomb countries in the first place.

#5

Conservatives are the embodiment of STUPIDITY and DEATH!

#6

What an uninformed fool you are! Smoke stack hugger like,
aren’t you?

#7

I don’t know why the media even considers any statements coming from the Republicans as having any validity and environmental weight in discussions about the radical climate change occuring due to increases in CO2 in the atmosphere.

#8

Because the corporate media’s interests often align with the Republicans’.

#9

The clear cutting of forests and destruction of the Amazon jungle contribute
to the rise in CO2 levels. We should be planting more trees rather than
destroying our forests.

#10

Let’s recap, the corporations in the 80s and 90s Cut down EVERY LAST ancient giant trees. Remember redwood summer? Those trees slowed down and could stop fires. They are ALL gone now so there is nothing to stop fire from racing through.

a fifty year drought would mean the Sahara.
The toxins are heavy in your bloodstream.

Probably because they get their talking points from the same group of people.
