WASHINGTON - The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit has upheld some of the most harmful provisions of Texas’ far-reaching and extreme clinic shutdown law, putting most abortion clinics in the state at risk of closure.
A word about language.
“Abortion clinics” Are these facilities that are primarily for performing abortions?
ARE the clinics that are being forced to close “abortion clinics,” or are they women’s health clinics? Are they primarily for performing abortions or do they deliver a wide range of reproductive health care to women? Are they FOR abortions, or are they delivering contraceptive counseling and STD screening and cancer screening, and pregnancy care and neonatal care and well baby and well woman care?
Are you losing a clinic there for the purpose of performing abortions, or are you losing a clinic that provides a wide range of important medical services to women?
