Following the Money on Senate Russian Investigations

Following the Money on Senate Russian Investigations

Victoria Bassetti

To special counsel, independent prosecute, special commission, select committee, or regular investigate, that is the question.

As the constitutional crisis deepens in the wake of Tuesday’s firing of FBI Director James Comey, the quest to assure the public that Russian interference in the 2016 elections is being investigated properly is heating up. Some form of inquiry is in order. But which kind?

Where's Putin been rootin'?   Only The Shadow knows . . .

Senator Wyden and, I think Graham (?) have requested from the Treasury Dept.'s Financial Crimes Unit, all the material they have collected in their ongoing investigation of Trump's financial dealings with Russia--Trump can't fire this unit, he could fire Munchkin the sect'y but that would have no effect--These guys are serious--recall that the T-men are who brought down Capone--The new T-men could very well have evidence that Trump has been a big money launderer for the Russian oligarchs and other such major crimes--If the Senate Intel Comm, underfunded as it is, combines with the Treasury Unit, and there are other investigations, such as the inspector general of the Defense Dept., combining ongoing investigations could get around Republican inertia and obstruction of the congressional committees--certainly an independent commission and a special prosecutor are still called for!
