Guaidó, a man of the people. /s
I hope the People preserve the lamppost from which he shall eventually swing. Make it a national shrine.
He is a CIA cutout, even to the point of being put through a CIA front organization for training before being sent back to Venezuela.
I’m getting curious about the distance that Russia and China have placed between themselves and a more prominent role in world hotspots that threaten to (or actually do) descend into violence.
I can understand their reluctance to confront hegemonic US power, especially in this hemisphere, but lately, when they do – like in Syria, or Ukraine, or over pipelines to Europe – they beat us.
Parra, the new president of the National Assembly, has been trying to work with Maduro, reconcile differences in give-and-take political trade-offs. The previous National Assembly had split into irreconcilable non-cooperation and tried to incite violence on the streets. They boycotted the elections and lost even more support. They had won in Dec. 2015 by a large majority, 58 to 42% of the vote, but they failed to present a constructive alternative. Guaido is a product of non-cooperatives who support illegitimate overthrow. The Non-Aligned Movement in the UN met in Caracas and supported the Maduro government legitimacy, 120 countries attended. That’s 2/3rds of the world’s nations. Here’s the web-site of an interview with Maduro, he comes across as very peaceful and well-informed: https://thegrayzone.com/2019/08/06/interview-venezuelan-president-nicolas-maduro/
