Forget Halloween: There's Plenty of Real-Life Horror in the Middle East

Belén Fernández

In the Iranian city of Isfahan the other day, I chatted with a carpet vendor who had in his possession two carpets woven by Afghan refugees in Iran.

At first glance, they appeared to be just like any other colourfully patterned carpets, but upon closer inspection one’s eye began to pick out warplanes, guns and tanks among the more typical shapes.

Even knowing that this has been going on for years does not blunt the horror of reading Belen's description of the Otherworldly Terror being inflicted on the Oil Rich Nations in our name.

Our fellow humans, born through no choice of their own, in these Geographically Targeted Countries now live an existence of Daily Terror incomprehensible to any thinking person of human sensibility.

If we Americans were subject to even one of the Countless Horrors that these Victims endure, on a daily basis, we would probably think that the Apocalypse had begun.

Ironically, the License that Our Captured Government gave itself, to behave in such manner, drew upon exactly such an event, at this point cogently explained to have been self engineered.
