To paraphrase Mencken, “Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American people.”

Alternatively:

TV host (might have been Jack Paar): “But Mr. Sturgeon, isn’t 90% of science fiction crap?”

Theodore Sturgeon, Golden Age SF writer and multi-Hugo Award winner: “90% of everything is crap.”

Maybe they could have an “All Navy SEALS” spin-off, since enough of those butt-holes are causing trouble all over the world.

One small point in “Spicey’s” favor: he seemed increasingly embarrassed and uncomfortable spouting out all those lies. His SNL characterization(by a woman), apparently insulted him and he “resigned” after less than a year. Sara S., otoh, only got insulted when made fun of basically “to her face” by M. Wolfe. She always seemed to “enjoy” herself; loved being rude and snarky to reporters, was in high dudgeon if questioned about her obvious lies, and claimed to be such a Christian while it was hard to imagine a more dishonest ,“unChristian” creature.

Yet more confirmation that watching the tube is a waste of time.

And, the worst novels have more redeemable diabolical characters than this country keeps employing in leadership roles.

Agreed. It is often joked that if you took what is happening right now and went back in time and tried submitting it as a fictional novel/movie, you would be a laughing stock and your account be considered too unrealistic and farcical. Reality is indeed stranger, and much more dumber and terribly written, than fiction.
