Seems like a whole lot of people have to pay with their lives for that free market thingy we hear so much about. Hmmm.

#3

Yup. Right wingers like to compile these lists of the people “killed by communism” worldwide. And not to to to depreciate butchers like Stalin and Mao, but when we could easy compile a far larger list of those killed by capitalism over the years - from the Potato famine to the dearths of injury and disease in the satanic mills and mines to the endless savage, mostly US military invasions around the globe to defend “free markets” to the open veins of Latin America…the victims amount to tens of millions over just the last 70 years.

Up until yesterday, there was at least one person on the planet worse than Trump.

#5

And today, we can hope there’s one more burning in Hell with Nixon and Reagan.

#6

Not so sure about that. Montt just had freer reign. Given the chance Trump would do as bad or worse in a heartbeat.

#7

With “free market,” of course, understood to mean:

  • Unimpeded looting, resultant impoverishment, massive wealth concentration, and stark inequality.

Freedom.

It’s important to be reminded that Montt wasn’t just a running buddy of Raygunz, but a creation of the CIA and the School of the Americas decades before Ronnie and his murderous gang came on the scene. He was a candidate of the ‘center-left’ Christian Democratic Party, which was a total creation of the U.S. government and military on behalf of U.S.-based oligarchs and corporations.

This is what the Duopoly and neoliberalism have always done, whether their front-man is Rios-Montt, Jimmy Carter or the Tweeting Idiot of Orange.
