Freedom! 19,000 Iraqi Civilians Killed in Less Than Two Years

Peter Van Buren

…that works out to about 28 dead every day.

It is also an estimate, given that many areas of the country are not readily accessible, and because the death toll from the siege of Ramadi is not accounted for in the figures. More than 3.2 million Iraqis are internally displaced and/or homeless.

Iraq is now an ungoverned, failed state, a killing field on the scale of genocide.

Putting George W Bush and the others from his administration responsible for lying us into war in Iraq on trial before the world would go a long way toward bringing peace in the world. It would also help bring back some semblence of world respect for the American people and our system of government and help gain self respect for ourselves as a people. The citizens of the US and the people of the world are long overdue these trials.

Had more individuals in so-called Intelligence called out the FRAUD perpetrated by both the False Flag itself, and the Fox News media malignancy going to work falsely conflating that event with Saddam Hussein... the following would not have happened:

"These horrors are directly caused by the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq and subsequent occupation. In addition to unleashing near-total chaos in the nation, the U.S. invasion led directly to the rise of Islamic State, which found the consuming violence fertile soil for growth."

I have come to view Mr. Van Buren (along with key writers who publish on TomDispatch) as actors who function as seemingly left-leaning gatekeepers to the Military Industrial Complex.

They all TRAFFIC in the false frames that blame Bin Laden for 911 and insist that this individual was captured... sans body, sans trial, and further tainted by the loss of the same Navy Seals who purportedly carried out this successful operation.

They also insist on BETTER more efficient wars and use the frame of "winning" a lot when speaking about these wars. But they don't question the primacy of the MIC at all, or why war abroad works as its lifeblood and raison d'etre.

Until Intelligence comes clean (and after all, it's the world of Intelligence that's sponsored so many Black Ops and taken it upon itself to "take out" numerous democratically elected leaders here and abroad), its mouthpieces ought to recognize that THEY have a lot of bood on their hands.

Moan on about the dead, Van Buren.. you were part of the operation that made the Middle East killing fields possible!
