From 'Downton Abbey' to Downfall: Spend-Happy GOP Lawmaker Resigns

Jon Queally, staff writer

Following a wave of questions over lavish spending and financial impropriety, including new allegations this week about major inconsistencies with his congressional and campaign expense reports, Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Illinois) issued a statement on Tuesday saying he will resign from the U.S. Congress effective March 31.

Excuse me sir, but when did you ever serve the interests of anyone, other than yourself and the Koch brothers and their ilk? Why wait until March 31st? Get the fuck out of Dodge now.

#3

Most likely a green huckster drunk on power who forgot to cover his tail. Otherwise, one would be ingenuous to believe all this (& more) isn't fair game in Washington. Must've crossed someone...

#4

Hopefully he will become a pariah for the Repug party...nah, he is now their hero for getting away with what he had to date...prior to his resignation. It is more likely that Schlock (my term for him) will land in a pile of dirty money in any case.

Another Schock Doctrine in action.

#6

More Slur than sir, and schlock than schock

#7

Schlock is the kind of person that Ayn Rand called a "superman" - a model human being, the gold-standard, for her sublime philosophy of "objectivism". She would be positively swooning over this guy, just like she did over this psycho kidnapper-killer, if she were alive today.

But why have we not gotten the opportunity to see his alleged lavish congressional office?

Also, we learned that Amy Goodman must not watch much TV even PBS, because she pronounced it "Downtown Abbey" this morning....

The office in Washington, D.C. looks like a reception area for a brothel not unlike those portrayed in any number of Western movies of the past. His taste is all in his mouth, which is now very bitter indeed.

"But why have we not gotten the opportunity to see his alleged lavish congressional office?"

just go to google images: 'Schock office'

Yeah, you're right - it looks like a sleazy19th century San Francisco brothel and nothing like the décor of Highclaire Castle.
