“I’m going to use reconciliation in as aggressive a way as I possibly can to address the terrible health and economic crises facing working people today,” Sanders told the news outlet. "

Some great news! We progressives cannot allow Bernie to be marginalized.

I’ll take a wait and see on this but I’m glad he has this position. The demodogs, biden and repugs will fight everything that helps us on Main Street.

The republicans laugh at articles like this. Why you ask? Because it doesn’t matter who sits in the committee chairs, the GOP is still in charge.
There are three kinds of senators. There are modern fascist republicans. There are democrats. And then there are Reagan republicans, of which those include Manchin, Coons, Sinema, Tester, and a few others that will keep any and all progressive legislation from ever leaving the senate floor.

With a razor thin majority and a plethora of right wing democrats everywhere, It’s uncertain how effective Sanders can be, although I would not expect he would be completely ineffectual. Sanders is a start, in any case. Lets just hope that in Pelosi’s congress, in the senate, and in Biden’s administration that the old practice of gradualism is completely discarded, and rapid and aggressive legislation breaks all time records - all of it in the way of radically reversing 50 years of right wing fascist corporatism and extremism. I personally can’t see it happening that way, but any forward progress at all would be an amazing and refreshing achievement after half a century of nothing but massive sweeping losses to the right wing.

Screen shot that despicable tweet by Nikki Haley so people can be reminded how she did NOT want to help folks who need help when she runs for president in 2024. Those words need to haunt her and nail her to trump’s border fence.

Time to face the harsh reality, Nikki Haley and the entire GOP had the past 4 years to rape and pillage our nation. Now, it’s their turn to whine.

Their lies define who they are.

I think with Bernie’s long, established, consistent advocacy for regular folks, we can do more than hope for more economic and health justice.

Yeah, I just don’t see the racists that put Trump in the White House rallying around Nikki Haley.

She’ll never be white enough for them.

Oh, so true. She’s not their kind. I can’t help but laugh at her aspirations.

Under the Eisenhower Administration the vastly wealthy enjoyed a 94% marginal income tax rate on the top part of their wealth. Today’s wealthy really have no worry at all because of the Senate’s thin majority plus some of the Democrats are rather conservative.

On second thought, making the rich feel better may not be the right tack. As the dentist said to the IRS agent sitting in the dental chair, “This is going to hurt like hell.”

There are 26 committees in the senate, and sub committees too, and Sanders chairs only one of them, he doesn’t control finance, he doesn’t control appropriations, he doesn’t control intelligence, or armed forces or, agriculture or energy or banking; he doesn’t control the budget committee, he only chairs it. Then, for it to be law, it has to go through congress and they are 99% right wing including their speaker Pelosi who is at least as right wing as McConnell, after which Biden has to sign off on it too. Yes, Sanders plays a significant role, given his presence and leadership, but it is far from a done deal when he’s done with it. I wouldn’t go so far to say “we can more than hope for more economic and health justice.” Biden is more interested in banking power than people power, he’s made that eminently clear throughout his long career.

Even if (by some quirk) they kill the Filibuster?

Unfortunately true, because Bernie is an an anathema to the senators you mentioned. The DINO’s will not allow any progressive legislation.

Bernie will do his upmost and those dems who vote against him will have to stand up. The lies about socialism has been overwhelming for the last 40 years. Democratic Socialism is what we had before trickle down, republicans need ing to sell off the public commons, tax cuts for the wealthy, corporations are people and free speech is money.

I remember growing when women went to lowbrow places for abortions, not me and I never felt as a women in the 60’s that I was treated unfairly in life, oh that is not true. When I got a divorce in the 70’s I was not able to get utilities in my name even though I worked and helped paid all our bills. But I never felt treated unfair when working for corporations. Hyster Company was fair and treated women equally as far as I knew and we had great benefits and fair wages along with a local corporationselling in many states Halton Tractor in Portland Oregon where I was treated fairly, good wages and benefits. Minimum wage was semi practical for 60’s but haven’t went up much more since except in some locations around this country. Federal minimum wage is $7.25? and needs to be raised at this time to $15 which still isn’t a wage that supports a family.
