The answer depends entirely on whether or not Sanders remains a team player and whether or not Schumer and Pelosi (yes, her opinion matters for Senate biz, too–they’re a two–headed hydra) take Bernie at his word.

There are too many ways to ensure that Sanders risks nothing of the neoliberal agenda. Appoint him to some harmless cabinet exile–the VA’s got an opening!.

I just think it’s premature to assume anything is all. These guys are snakes and surely we’ve seen more than enough evidence for that proposition, right?

I figure they’re safe with Sanders. After all, none of the mouthy Dems actually leveraged the defense appropriations veto to extract anything. That’s a pretty good demonstration of “good faith” to the party.

If Sanders had a lick of sense he would have realized how foolhardy it is to continually think that the Democrats would do the right thing. But he insists upon beating his head against the wall by somehow hoping that the Democrats will come around to his way of thinking. And instead of doing the logical thing and that would be by forming his own progressive party he continues to foolishly align himself with the Savage Mules which is the same thing which the latest hero for the progressives, Nina Turner, has now done.

This is your BS representation of Sanders’ motives.

He does not “think that the Democrats would do the right thing,” he is working over a lifetime to move politics in the USA back toward FDR/New Deal-style social democracy. Now he sets the schedule and agenda for the Senate Budget Committee, where he’ll do the best he can to shift money from the looting class to the working class.

And now he’s got 8 or 9 people in the House of Representatives who share his purposes – and one more when Turner is elected. He’s not going to work miracles, he’s going to keep plugging away.
