Germany is the Tell-Tale Heart of America’s Drone War

Jeremy Scahill, The Intercept

The following represents a joint investigation between The Intercept and the German news magazine Der Spiegel.

Once again this reminds me of Karl Rove
“We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

It’s a damn good thing that the American Revolutionaries of the 18th century didn’t say that citizens have no power against the corruption and criminality of King George and the East Bay India Company. It’s a damn good thing that Labor, Populists and Agrarians, women, and Blacks didn’t say they were powerless against the robber barons of the 19th century and the oppression they wrought. Citizens do have power, we just prefer watching TV, or any other completely unassociated activity to our duties as the sovereigns of this nation. The people have all the power we need; we just need to decide to use it. Using drones is akin to using suicide bombers–both tools of terrorism. Hell no–not in my name.
