Germany's Superhighway for Bikes Offers Hope for 'Transformative' Transportation

Andrea Germanos, staff writer

While the United States closed 2015 with a record high number of auto sales, Germany offered a potentially "transformative" transportation alternative by opening a stretch of a highway for bikes that is slated to take tens of thousands of cars off the road every day.

Like the AutoBahn, will the the cyclists go 100 MPH with an unlimited speed limit?
They will need very loud bells.

What we see is how the future will come to be if we let it. Yes change is possible. Not by downsizing but by changing. Changing from cars to electric bikes. Why not for tens of millions? Even mass transit might be a more expensive commute than an electric bike or an electric scooter or an electric cart. Lightweight transportation within city speed limits and safer than heavy vehicles. One person might carry a fold up cart into their office or home. Rainproof too but lightweight. Solar charged... why the hell not? Heck spend a hundred thou on a Porche electric cart if you like? It's environmentally friendly.

Deutschland ueber alles really means Germany everywhere and has positive vibes. In the anthem they sing of German wine women and song everywhere but today it is German ecology.

Dammit: I still cannot understand why the Germans are so intelligent and progressive and yet led the world to 2 insane wars............I suppose that is because they are so very good at EVERYTHING they do. That, lest anyone take offence, is a back-handed compliment.
