Gina Haspel Sought to Withdraw Nomination Over Torture Role: Washington Post

Andrea Germanos, staff writer

President Donald Trump's pick to lead the CIA, Gina Haspel, sought to withdraw her nomination on Friday amid concerns that details about her role in the agency's torture program would sink the possibility of a successful confirmation, the Washington Post reported Sunday.

What’s this country coming to, when simply being a war criminal is looked at as a bad thing?

#3

Its senses, hopefully. Finally.

#4

Well did see withdraw or did she not withdraw? This article was terribly worded.

#5

the way I read it is that after she suggested that she withdraw several persons told her that her fan club would be supporting her and she should continue with the confirmation hearing. One argument for her was affirmative action “We need a female terrorist as the CIA director”.

The rut being carved by the huckster for trump has developed a lurid flapping and twisting in the formulas devised by its PR nightmare king and queen of overdrive: the big B and whatshername that dresses in redwhiteandblue. I find myself blocking the names.

Gina Ha spell and her vile additions to the twisting and flapping of guaranteed-to-fail practices are like that of the Counterinsurgency Manual touted by the stunningly venal ‘general’ Petrayus, militarized anthropology to the point of being unrecognizable. This being well documented in the the Counter Counter Insugency Manual produced by the Network of Concerned Anthropologists.

No more elevating of these to administration of agencies.

Gina will save herself and the country a great deal of embarrassment by withdrawing her nomination.

Want to see some action Gina, enlist in the armed forces.

No! Don’t let her simply withdraw and save face. Put her thru a 14-16 hour interrogation that will make her WISH she is only being waterboarded. If she believes in torture, give the girl her wish.

News flash! The entire planet has been waterboarded since Drumpff has occupied the Oval Office. This may be our last gasp of air before we go down for the last time.

Mary –

"One argument for her was affirmative action “We need a female terrorist as the CIA director”.

Mark Crispin Miller, Author and Professor of Media Studies at NYU – and who was Editor on Douglas Valentine’s book “Phoenix Program” makes clear that …

"Phoenix Program is the template for our war on terror here in US."

"Homeland Security is based in Phoenix Program."

History:

America’s Use of Terror in Vietnam – The Phoenix Program

A shocking exposé of the covert CIA program of widespread torture, rape, and murder of civilians during America’s war in Vietnam, with a new introduction by the author

In the darkest days of the Vietnam War, America’s Central Intelligence Agency secretly initiated a sweeping program of kidnap, torture, and assassination devised to destabilize the infrastructure of the National Liberation Front (NLF) of South Vietnam, commonly known as the “Viet Cong.” The victims of the Phoenix Program were Vietnamese civilians, male and female, suspected of harboring information about the enemy—though many on the blacklist were targeted by corrupt South Vietnamese security personnel looking to extort money or remove a rival. Between 1965 and 1972, more than eighty thousand noncombatants were “neutralized,” as men and women alike were subjected to extended imprisonment without trial, horrific torture, brutal rape, and in many cases execution, all under the watchful eyes of US government agencies.

Based on extensive research and in-depth interviews with former participants and observers, Douglas Valentine’s startling exposé blows the lid off of what was possibly the bloodiest and most inhumane covert operation in the CIA’s history.

The ebook edition includes “The Phoenix Has Landed,” a new introduction that addresses the “Phoenix-style network” that constitutes America’s internal security apparatus today. Residents on American soil are routinely targeted under the guise of protecting us from terrorism—which is why, more than ever, people need to understand what Phoenix is all about.

Also …

As The Corbett Report reported last year, Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater, has slithered out from his hiding place and re-emerged as a figure on the political stage. He is now advocating for a rebirth of the US’ infamous “Phoenix Program” to target the ISIS terrorists the US created, and he is advising Trump from the shadows. Today Douglas Valentine, author of The Phoenix Program and The CIA As Organized Crime joins us to discuss what The Phoenix Program is and why its resurrection is so ominous.

""Any Democrat who claims to support women’s empowerment and our national security but opposes her nomination is a total hypocrite."

  1. Considering how something quite similar (replace “Democrat” with “Republican” and “nomination” with “election”,) was so often said a year and a half ago, I take it that Sanders voted for Clinton.

  2. And yup, Democrats are angry with Michelle Wolf because of her crass delivery.
