The Republican health care bill slated for vote this week is an astounding immoral affront to the American people. It would strip tens of millions of health insurance and raise the costs for millions more, while claiming to protect them. It’s so bad, even its authors can only defend it with lies, evasions and flimflam.
While I agree that it’s “immoral,” I observe that morality rarely (if ever) enters into our political discourse.
At least our currency says “In God We Trust.”
Not that far out of line for today’s Republicans who have moved so far to the right that they made the European “right wing” look like far left wing Democrats in comparison. Marine LePen supported France’s system of national health insurance. Donald Trump on the other hand wants to eliminate the coverage and protections of the ACA. I suspect that Republicans want to go from there to eliminate Medicare and Medicaid and many would no doubt vote to repeal Social Security if they could.
