Candidates create a mandate for their actions in the way they campaign. For example, in 1932, FDR laid his “New Deal” plan out to the people at his DNC acceptance speech, and the Democrats ran on it. Thus, after they won the election, they had a clear mandate to implement the New Deal, which they quickly did creating the idea of a President’s “100 days.”
Joe Biden ran entirely on saying that “Donald Trump was awful”. Thus, the one thing Biden clearly has a mandate to do is to reverse everything Trump did. Biden ran on reversing Trump, so he had the mandate to fire Trump officials and reverse Trump policies. Instead of this dribbling out of half-measure executive orders, he could have simply said he was doing this in a Big statement (Biden likes the word Big) on Day One.
The one thing Joe Biden has a mandate to do is to fire every Trump official and to reverse every Trump policy. I find it very interesting to notice the cases where he is not doing this.
Yet another group of voters who supported Biden now being kicked in the teeth. There was a noticeable trend among Social Security recipients away from their traditional Republican voting pattern to support Biden. So, like minimum wage workers and indebted college graduates, Biden of course has to kick Social Security voters in the teeth and make sure they know that voting Democrat was a huge mistake.
After all, Biden won in such an enormous landslide that he can afford to piss off everyone who voted for him.
