Guardianship System Eased, but Saudi Arabia Still Oppresses Women

Keep trading weapons for oil, a couple billion at a time, and maybe the House of Saud will lighten up. It’s not a country, it’s a wholly-owned subsidiary of the House of Saud. The only “cushion” the West has against Iran, which was doing just fine until we had their first prime minister executed in the 50s, and installed the Shah. Because of a major religious disagreement hundreds of years ago, the Sunni and Shi’a are bitter enemies. So much for making the operation of a country dependent on theology. Wait a few years; it’s going to happen right here in the USA.
