Amidst nationwide rallies protesting too many bereaved mothers "picking up the pieces of state violence against communities of color" comes a short, stirring film about Wanda Johnson, the mother of Oscar Grant, whose 2009 killing by a BART cop marks for many the start of the current plague of police killings. Each year on Oscar's birthday, Wanda brings together the community to heal, mourn, recharge and insist that "Oscar's life mattered."
Happy Mothers Day, if possible, Mr. Oscar Grant's MOM. My heart goes out to you. Please stay strong and we shall keep you and yours in our prayers. The Brother didn't deserve execution, but he DID deserve JUSTICE!! May our Brother Rest In Peace and have a Happy Birthday!
