DJ Trump really has not conceded… This may be the undoing of Joe Biden’s POTUS.

Ms. Conley has covered the territory pretty thoroughly. The party of Lincoln has effectively acknowledged that it is now and always was the party of Big Business, the party of autocracy.

“Have [they] no sense of decency [sir]? At long last, have [they] left no sense of decency?”

Let us not forget what happened the last time a Republican operative sought for the party to create its own reality.

“Trump will leave office in January?”

Not if Trump can help it! How can he when he and 75 million people believe the election was stolen from them? If Biden has Trump arrested and taken out, of the oval office, his rabid base will go ballistic! We could be looking at another civil war.

My guess is that Trump would not refuse to leave the White House unless the violence has already started. He needs it as a pretext for any “extraordinary measures”. But we shall see.

That was said about the communist, party witch hunt in the 1950’s, but that exclamation is true today of the Republican, Party!

This entire gambit is and has always been about White Rule, White Supremacy and not just white but affluent white, owner white, land, gold, money white, the elite Anglo Saxon Protestant white. The wealth whites have been joining hands with the racist white supremacist Evangelical “Christians” to take the country back to the times they had absolute power over everyone and everything in this country. They sat out at earnest since 1963 JFK assassination and especially since Vietnam uprisings to do away with this thing called democracy The people revolts, the Hippie era, the homosexual and feminist movements, freedom of the press and legalization of abortion. Those are a few of the things the fundamental cult the so called Christian America despises deeply. Add to that the illegal arrival of tens of millions from Latin American countries and you have the anger reach bowling point. Corporate America who is basically responsible for the mass migration of Hispanics on the other hand sees these events as a grand opportunity to pit people against one another to preserve wealth and the loot. It is that simple folks, anyone going on and on deep into analysis and philosophy is forgetting the most fundamental point namely the zeal of the supreme wealthy white males for preservation of wealth and power only in their hands. The phony Christian communities have been used as a perfect cannon fodder for achieving this ultimate goal of absolute Christian dictatorship blaming everything on God and Jesus. We all ought to know that the American “Christian” characters are easily hypnotized into believing in fantastically magical fantasies, aliens and black magic. This group are barely literate and lack the most basic scientific knowledge despite the fact that they use what science has created in the everyday lives.

This assault on the Constitution could be easily prevented by tightening campaign finance law. Take the profit out off public service and these folks would be much better behaved. It won’t be a threat to democracy, though, unless the Supreme Court is willing to toss the Constitution which is probably a step too far for them.

Good guess. Whatever happens between now and January 20th…it looks to me to be very ugly. The one thing that would do is give Trump the pretext for declaring Martial Law.

What?

Yes and so will the stiff reaction to their rabidness.

Those that write those laws are the same ones that profit from their public service. The not-so-easy task is to force them to rewrite the laws against their own interests.

my guess is that the lawsuit will fail but a more serious threat is on Jan 5 when Congress counts the electoral college votes but the constitution apparently allows objections that if confirmed by the Senate can send the contested results back to the states. Plus the right-wing armed mobs can stir things up resulting in martial law and Trump remaining in power.
In which case progressive concerns over the details on just how to expand access to health care and all other issues will be moot, replaced by concerns over how to stay out of jail.

It was said directly to the Republican Senator Joseph McCarty!

Did the first one really ever end? We have just done “work-arounds” haven’t we?

That’s right, about marshal law. Let’s keep our powder dry for at least a few more weeks.
We know how easily the right gets riled by uppity liberals.

This is the same “logic” as Bush v Gore. Bush won, the world lost. Clinton did nothing, Gore did nothing. Biden will do nothing. Same deal. The Oligarchs might be put off by Trump’s style but he and Mitch the Turtle deliver. That is all they care about. Look at how the wealth, untaxed, untouched for the few is growing & how poverty for the masses is increasing. Wars go on with no opposition from anyone.

If SCOTUS declines to hear the case, then rank-and-file Trumpsters will forever feel that “we wuz robbed.” This would be especially likely if the SC bases its rejection on the impending Electoral College meetings and not on the merits of the case.

If SCOTUS hears the case, the country would have a chance to hear the ridiculous claims, review the evidence (or lack thereof), and watch the Republican nonsense get demolished. In cases between states, SCOTUS has original jurisdiction, not appellate jurisdiction, and that could allow for the testimony of witnesses and the examination of evidence. It would make for riveting television, it would resolve the legitimacy of the 2020 election, and it might even humiliate the Republicans (if such a thing were possible!).

Any Republican Justice who sides with Trump and his hyperpartisan sycophants would be exposed as biased or stupid or both, and that Justice would be under great pressure to resign. To avoid that fate, the Justices would all want a unanimous decision - which would crush Trump et al.

If SCOTUS hears the case, it’s a win-win-win for the good guys.

Why should those who are very clearly attempting to undermine U.S. democracy, be allowed to remain living in the country?

Ah, try and pull yourself together.
