Highlighting Systematic 'Violation of International Human Rights', Ocasio-Cortez Shreds Trump Address

Julia Conley, staff writer

Vehemently rejecting President Donald Trump's Tuesday evening address on immigration, in which the president was allowed by every major news network to once again portray immigrants who cross the U.S.-Mexico border as drug dealers and rapists, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) appeared on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show" to call attention to the harm Trump's xenophobic agenda has done to immigrants and communities across the country.

In my dreams I see AOC slowly but surely beating Donny Doofus silly with a roll of paper towels on pay-per-view TV.

#3

Is it possible? Can AOC be above board enough that Trump can’y reach her?

Another voice of conscience, empathy, and truth, is A O-C…so like an oasis in a desert of lies and deceit that has become our now accepted politics. Most politicians and political mechanisms twisted and corrupted; are now serving themselves and crony co-conspirators to serve their masters of obscene wealth and the ugly processes of greed and self-interest that have made that goal so odious to me and many millions of others. The majority of millions are not living, but mostly existing - scraping-by in a world Of, By, and For the wealthy of this Earth, bought with the misery of others, and that criminal, evil, distortion of what life could be for ALL, from those of modest desires to the ambitious, must be ended. When all share in a just society, all prosper in the ways that mean the most to them.

Having watched that strange spectacle, I must say we should put him on prime time more often. His inability to string together a coherent argument came through in spades. The crazed, conspiratory rhetoric was right there for everybody to see and he came off looking like half wit. Ironically, the 280 character limit on twitter protects the Amercian public from seeing Trump in full stupid mode. The good news is that his image/ego took a big hit last night and I suspect that will be the last time we see him do that.

It is clear Trump is now desperately looking for a way out of this self-induced disaster. Maybe the democrats should agree that while there won’t be any funding for the wall, the proper color of the imaginary wall should be rust. He can claim a win and we can all move on. Trump can get back to eating burgers in front of the TV where he does less damage.

“He’s trying to restrict every form of legal immigration there is in the United States,…”

That’s not entirely true. Trump is fine with immigration, legal or not, by people with very light skin tones and blue eyes - he especially likes Scandinavians and Russians.

Don’t forget family and Trump hotel employees.

Dumbty Trumpty sat on the Wall

Neoliberalism claims to be all about “rugged individualism” until they actually come face to face with one in AOC. Then the mob plutocracy collapses in perplexity.

What’s wrong with wanting a healthy state economy, not just a robust financial economy that only serves the FIRE sector (finance, insurance, real estate)?

Money creation is 2 ways: government issues its own currency into existence and private banks issue credit.

We’ve been a credit-dependent nation for 40 years now simply because the private banks took charge of government finance and shut off fiscal policy.

It’s time to let government operate the way it’s supposed to! Dems before AOC over the past 40 years have never even tried to create a strong state economy.

“Government exists to spend. The purpose of government is to serve the general welfare of the citizens, not just the military-industrial complex and the financial class. Didn’t we have a stimulus, oh, eight years ago? It was tiny and has not been entirely spent. As Yellen implied, we need more spending of the non-military kind (what Barney Frank memorably called “weaponized Keynesianism” doesn’t stimulate).”

Neoliberalism, the 45-yr. global economic policy, is an ideology founded by libertarian economist and Austrian aristocrat, Friedrich von Hayek and promoted by libertarians Milton Friedman, James Buchanan, Milton Friedman, Ayn Rand, Alan Greenspan, the Koch brothers and others.

Both parties today are dominated by this failed libertarian radical right, who claim to be all about economic freedom. They hate laws that restrain them in any way, especially environmental protections.

Libertarians’ idea of liberty actually depends on economic inequality. It’s their “human right”. Economic freedom over liberty for all. Isn’t that undemocratic?

"Aryeh Neier, founder of Human Rights Watch and its executive director for 12 years, doesn’t hide his contempt for the idea of economic equality as one of the key human rights. Neier is so opposed to the idea of economic equality that he even equates the very idea of economic equality and justice with oppression—economic rights to him are a violation of human rights, rather than essential human rights, thereby completely inverting traditional left thinking.

Here’s what Neier wrote in his memoir, Taking Liberties: “The concept of economic and social rights is profoundly undemocratic… Authoritarian power is probably a prerequisite for giving meaning to economic and social rights.”

Neier here is aping free-market libertarian mandarins like Friedrich von Hayek, or Hayek’s libertarian forefathers like William Graham Sumner, the robber baron mandarin and notorious laissez-faire Social Darwinist.

As with Neier, William Graham Sumner argued that liberty has an inverse relationship to economic equality; according to Sumner, the more economic equality, the less liberty; whereas the greater the inequality in a society, the more liberty its individuals enjoy.

It’s the fundamental equation underlying all libertarian ideology and politics—a robber baron’s ideology at heart."

I agree with Ocasio-Cortez. As someone that has lived and worked in Mexico, immigrants do not make me feel unsafe, but if anyone makes me feel unsafe, it is our insane COMMANDER- IN-CHIEF!

#12

Totally another lie! This capitulation by the major networks to carry what was suppose to be a State of the Union address was not about immigration! It was just another political, campaign by Trump to solicit funds from his base.

#13

“Solicit funds from his base” AND extort exponentially more funds from US taxpayers, most of which will end up in the hands of the GOP’s prison industrial complex (PIC) cronies and military industrial media infotainment complex (MIMIC) cronies.

#14

MAGA in fact should be MAWA as in “Make America white again” as this what the message really means.

#15

Dying children evokes more action than concentrating on the causes of immigration, but It would be great if in addition to pointing out the damage to immigrants, she also addressed the cause of immigration like war, drug wars, poverty, lack of planned parenting and education, resource depletion, wealth concentration, corporate predation, inequality, desertification, chemical agriculture, theocracy, plutocracy, famine, drought, global warming, fossil fuels, green energy and more. The GND includes much of this and she has the megaphone now.

#16

Please reconsider referring to the “Libertarians” really Libertine Adolescents as "radical. They are never interested in going to the root of our common humanity.

#17

Yesterday I noticed Ms Ocasio-Cortez changed her Twitter handle to AOC. Keep at it, The youth have renewed my hope for a better future, As long as the progressives keep away from corporate influence and stay true to their cause we can perhaps, have a better future.

#18

Maybe Trump can’t, but Pelosi sure can shut AOC down. See Green New Deal…

Or the 70% tax…

No, she’s a fake. Her Bronx upbringing story is a fake. She was raised in WestChester -the 2nd richest neighborhood in NY. She lied like a sociopath. You-tube her and watch her say her parents put her on a bus everyday take a 40 minute trip to Westchester because they wanted her in a better school. Then after she was exposed for her father owning their house in Westchester since she was 2, she changes it to that 40 minute bus trip was from Westchester to the Bronx - “occasionally to see extended family.” Rich kid pretends to be poor kid from the Bronx.

Her story gets down right DNC pro fake job though when you get to her bartending and co-workers. That’s all over the map on every point.
