While the Idaho National Guard is headed south, border states Oregon and Washington need to activate their National Guards to stem the flow of hordes of infected Idahoans overloading hospitals up and down the west coast.

Admittedly Idaho is a different sort of culture but they have voluntary vaccination at 47% and their case rate is lower than several states around them. The controversy is mandates.
This is according to state statistics.
The exception is Wyoming which has a very low rate for some reason.

When I go to a store now, very few are wearing masks. Is it a belief that being vaccinated makes one completely safe?
Everybody has the right to not go places.
But the anti-vaxers feel they have a right to go anywhere unmasked.
So when in the company of dozens or more unmasked people, how am I supposed to tell who is safe and who isn’t?

Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel has told The Economic Times that he believes the pandemic will be over in “the middle of next year” — in other words, mid-2022, or another year.
Bancel cited the availability of children’s vaccines, including infants’, as a key to ending COVID-19. Industrywide production expansions and booster shots will help, too, he said.
And, for those who aren’t vaccinated, they “will immunize themselves naturally, because the Delta variant is so contagious. In this way we will end up in a situation similar to that of the flu. You can either get vaccinated and have a good winter. Or you don’t do it and risk getting sick and possibly even ending up in hospital," he said.

Ten months since the vaccine was launched and still only a 47% vaccinated rate is kind of pathetic.
But when we see in pole after pole that 30-35% of the adults in this nation still support trump I could have told you that we would eventually only get to 70%, if we were lucky.
These are sad times….

Oh yes the Coffeve days are still with us. There have been all sorts of inducements to be vaccinated when that didn’t work, mandates. Or as the article I posted, making it standard protocol at birth will increase those rates. No doubt the annual vax will still apply for those that don’t test with immunity naturally.
There are quite a few areas that have 98% so I think that over all that should make significant changes.

Almost 100% of the children in the nation are mandated to be vaccinated for polio, MMR, before they start school. We are all mandated to stop at red lights. For an adult to say they don’t want the Covid vaccine because of a mandate is childish at best, and patently ridiculous at worst.

You can only guess. The CDC made a big mistake by saying too early that vaccinated people could forgo masks in public because it opened the door for the unvaccinated to create another surge. It was in effect putting those with no honor on the honor system.

Correct. Almost every single one of these people and their kids had to get a variety of shots to go to public school. Not a peep out of most of them until Trump made it a political stance. I hear people say they have religious grounds to refuse but I have yet to hear a cogent reason from them. Is anti mask and vaccine rules in the Bible? If you have a weak immune system and your doctor advises against the shot I understand. They say they don’t want that ‘poison’ in my body but I have no problem with toxic chemicals in my air, food, water and household items. There IS plenty of research on that for you folks that pretend you know want rigorous scientific study before you make a decision on what you find acceptable to put in your body.

That is not a very good argument, Only those people that drive are mandated to stop at red lights and only people that are licensed are drivers. Geez anyway. And just for the sake of argument if you check vaers quite a few people have died or been injured (this isn’t like all other vaccines combined in terms of results) so we have to say a certain amount of loss is worth it. So I don’t think it is stupid at all.
VAERS is not science, VAERS is whatever anyone posts there.
Right, but in order to determine policy those reports are vetted by scientists. It is a part of clinical trials and will be examined for I think another 10 years. This is how they determine risks and benefits. The CDC now has a pretty complete analysis. Right now, from those reports they are studying a few of the side effects.
