How Donald Trump Plans to Enlist Fossil Fuels in the Struggle for Global Dominance

Michael Klare

The new U.S. energy policy of the Trump era is, in some ways, the oldest energy policy on Earth. Every great power has sought to mobilize the energy resources at its command, whether those be slaves, wind-power, coal, or oil, to further its hegemonic ambitions.

I’m not quite sure what this article is referencing by this sentence: 'Still, far more than subservience to oil and coal barons lurks in Trump’s energy policy (and Perry’s words)". While Perry supports fossil fuel development, his position on alternative energy sources has been rather ambiguous, but he hasn’t come forward with the position that fossil fuels will overtake all alternative energy investment.

Next to the United States as a nation, the American Military and it’s 700+ Military bases worldwide, are most responsible for the devastation of the Earth’s air and waters.

Some master plan.

If ever there was a true statement, this is it!

Always with the global dominance routine, so what else is new? What do you expect when the military is so firmly in charge now? World peace? While what is being planned in this country is disheartening and important to know, I doubt it means slackening efforts to stake claims to global supply and to use oil as a weapon. Withholding supplies, for instance, in collusion with cowardly “allies”, is intended to dominate the global stage and to dislodge disagreeable foreign leaders, by putting unbearable pressure on millions of ordinary people such as in North Korea. How is this not a war crime? Oh, quibble if you must, but it’s hard to see this U.S. directed policy as anything but a hand of evil in perilous times. See Christine Ahn’s important article on this site for more details.

This cabal of Stupid Old Men hung up on antiquated approaches will die off. In anycase, until then, they confront a nation and generations of Americans who will refuse to participate in their little wet-dream of fossil fuels forever, by continuing to invest in, educate themselves in, and create renewable alternatives. Just because those old creeps think they run the world doesn’t mean they do. I, for one, refuse to participate. Go solar!!!

Trump more or less promised to gather and conserve our wealth. To build a wall. To circle the wagons. To conserve our jobs…for us!

As far as “wealth” goes, I tried to point out Feb 7 that instead with Trump everything’s actually going out …out yonder to "interdollarnet."

This will still be true with the increased paychecks of oil magnates. Probably more important, though, is KLARE’S POINT THAT OIL (which is a form of wealth) IS GOING OUT. Those increased exports won’t be going to gas and diesel used for laying down new tracks here for more trains.

The temporary nature of Trump’s geopolitical “advantage” in all this makes the whole thing delusional (first it was Assad’s chemicals; now it’s the economic threat of “great-powers”–do they think we’re idiots?). Are Russia and China doing maneuvers right up next to our border?? It’s elementary it’s delusional. If the “great-powers” wanted to collude against us, wouldn’t they simply allow DT to keep talk’n and drill’n? Impeachment him by way of The 25th Amendment.
