How the Pentagon Sank the US-Russia Deal in Syria – and the Ceasefire

Gareth Porter

Another US-Russian Syria ceasefire deal has been blown up.

Whether it could have survived even with a US-Russian accord is open to doubt, given the incentives for al-Qaeda and its allies to destroy it. But the politics of the US-Russian relationship played a central role in the denouement of the second ceasefire agreement.

Obama is fighting against three powerful forces in that region who want Assad out and short of that the war to continue.
Israel, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
The Zionist lobby in the US which aligns itself for the sake of convenience and profit with Turkey and Saudi Arabia sunk the ceasefire. Of course they were backed by the neocons who never met a country or a leader that they didn't want to take control of using our military might.
We the people need to apply maximum pressure against the pro-Zionist neocons who run our foreign policy.

Anyone who thinks we're going to get out of this without a massive escalation of the US hot war against the world, is unaware of the facts.

Yes we the people need to apply maximum pressure, but most people in the USA are unaware of the facts.

The US military government is carrying out its long-term strategic plan.

Here is a reasonable explanation of the Russian motive to negotiate:

Agree. And Dmity Orlov had an excellent piece on his blog a few weeks back as well worth the read if you missed it.

U.S. Coalition Intelligence “Operations Room” Inside Syria, Destroyed by Russian Missile Attack: Thirty Israeli, American, British, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari Intelligence Officials Killed, Report

The US and its allies had established a Field Operations Room in the Aleppo region integrated by intelligence personnel. Until it was targeted by a Russian missile attack on September 20, this “semi-secret” facility was operated by US, British, Israeli, Turkish, Saudi and Qatari intelligence personnel.

According to Fars News, this intelligence facility was attacked by Russia in the immediate wake of the US Air Strikes against Syrian SAA forces at Deir Ezzor in support of the ISIS-Daesh terrorists. “The Russian warships stationed in Syria’s coastal waters targeted and destroyed a foreign military operations room, killing over two dozen Israeli and western intelligence officers”

Russia wipes out secret centre of Western coalition

Published on Sep 23, 2016
The Fars News has reported that ‘The Russian warships fired three Caliber missiles at the foreign officers' coordination operations room in Dar Ezza region, killing 30 Israeli and western officers’. The US military along with its allies created the Field Operations Room in the Aleppo region, which was filled with intelligence services’ staff. Members of the US, British, Israeli, Turkish, Saudi Arabian and Qatari intelligence services operated there.

Michel Chossudovsky, Professor of Economics at the University of Ottawa, Founder and Director of the Centre for Research on Globalization, Montreal, explained that intelligence facility was attacked by Russia in the immediate wake of the US Air Strikes against Syrian forces at Deir ez-Zor in support of the ISIS terrorists. The operations centre was located in the Western part of Aleppo province at the Sam'an mountain, where there are a lot of old caves. The region is deep into a chain of mountains. The centre was used to coordinate acts on the ground with the reconnaissance acts of drones as well as to carry out air strikes. According to the Fars, personnel of the intelligence services was involved in the US Air Forces’ attack on the Syrian forces, which was carried out just after armistice agreements had been reached in Geneva.

► maybe not.

Obamas own words and actions often differ.

#14

Obama should convene a court marshal for any general that authorized the bombing. These generals and planners knew what the agreement was and disobeyed their commander and chief. Accident is BS. THis is the military acting on its own.

#15

Oh I bet Obama knows all about this and even though he might say differently, his actions will tell that the military has his blessing.

At least Truman had the balls to fire MacArthur.

► Yes, I understand the author's idea.

Mike Whitney suggested the same thing ( http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/09/20/rogue-mission-did-the-pentagon-bomb-syrian-army-to-kill-ceasefire-deal/ )

I just wondered if the Generals don't represent the President's policies more than his speeches do.

We do have a President that often says one thing and does another. He got himself elected that way.

#20

Gareth Porter why do you continue to mimic the words of the NWO Goons by saying the Assad Regime. He;s the elected leader of Syria by an overwhelming majority. Call him his rightful name President Assad. This is a perfect example of just how brainwashed the masses have become.

This proxy war is precariously close to being a full blown face to face war. The Pentagon is having a party in their pants over the thought.

#25

Obomber should "revisit the fundamental choices" - what and damage his 'legacy'?? Not in a million, million years will that ever happen...

#26

The very last thing the Pentagon and the MIC want is a peaceful world. Orwell nailed it when he said: PEACE IS WAR!

#27

Perspicacious post!

#28

Our "elected" gov must be brave enough to reassert control over the MIC. I don't see it happening soon. Hope I'm wrong.

"The Times quoted Lt Gen Jeffrey L Harrigian, commander of the United States Air Forces Central Command (USAFCENT), as telling reporters, “I’m not saying yes or no.”
The General possibly AKA:

Hilarious if it isn't so serious!
