Humanizing Justice Systems: Effective Alternative Approaches

Our criminal justice system in America is broken. Our so-called “tough on crime” laws have led to us being the most incarcerated nation in the developed world – disproportionately affecting minorities and some of our most already hard hit communities.

Although this article deals primarily with criminal justice, civil justice also needs to be considered,especially as Obama's TPP and TTIP relinquish judicial authority from governments to corporate tribunals for labor and environmental issues.

The draconian rulings handed down by the tribunals will exacerbate problems poor people face getting jobs and being subject to planned environmental degradation in their neighborhoods.
