Hundreds of State Legislators and Civil Rights Groups Urge Senate to Reject DeVos

Nika Knight, staff writer

The U.S. Senate on Monday received two last-minute salvos from prominent progressive voices against Betsy DeVos's nomination for education secretary.

Betsy DeVos testifying at her confirmation hearing January 17, 2017, DeVos refused to commit herself to saying that schools have an obligation to educate children with disabilities. Enough, how much more do we need to know about this cancer (Betsy DeVos) to America's Public Educational System!

"...she lacks any direct experience with education, instruction, and school system and program administration,". That's a poor argument. Neither have the last 3. They've all been former secret service personel like FBI or CIA. But that doesn't take from their point.

#4

Senators Lisa Murkowski from Alaska and Senator Collins from Maine have broken ranks. We need more because Pence could have a vote and be a tie breaker.

I guess she does not know about IDEA the law ( federal) that guarantees a right to an education for a student with a disability.

It is a federal law to educate children with disabilities. Didn't she ever hear of an IEP? This woman is dumb as rocks even though she has inherited money. Call your senators ( even if they are republicans).
