Hunger and Other Losses

As the civil war in Syria enters its fifth grim year, humanitarian agencies say the world has abandoned its victims: the 220,000 killed and over 10 million displaced. Among the war's hostages are the desperate residents of Yarmouk, Syria's largest community of Palestinian refugees. In rebel hands, under siege by Assad, those who have lost so much are now dying of hunger in what has become "Syria's Gaza, a prison from which there is no escape."
