Trump and his gang are sworn enemies of life on earth.
His sons kill endangered animals for fun, while his actions kill many more, and endanger the health and lives of humans.

I in my career in environmental education and research spent in two states covering five years in one and twenty in another here were the stats: 2 years under a Democratic governor and 23 under a Republican one. I will tell you that this shit is exactly what happens when the Rs are at the helm. Drove me out at a relatively young age. Without children to support and help through school I could make the jump out early. But damn, the amount of work that my students, peers and I put into preparing quality research documents that were professional and stood up to peer review in top notch journals–the same work would run up the ranks of the technical agencies only to be shelved by the political hacks. Fucking bastards.
Bernie 2020!

How many of the pollutants should EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler become severely allergic to?

The Deep State, made up of a bunch of leftists and environmentalists, just hate Trump for this.

Sad and ironic that the analytical and predictive capabilities of hard sciences like chemistry, biology, and physics are disregarded while a soft science like economics is reified, dogmatized, and set to rule over us as if it were a set of natural laws. Theocracy at its worst.

“Soft science” indeed! I can’t think of a single one which doesn’t have a distinctively doctrinaire flavor, like theology, with no basis but the slippery opinions of previous “soft scientists” going all the way back to Franz Anton Mesmer.

Climate Scientist Kevin Anderson calls economics “astrology.”

Climate Scientist Kevin Anderson calls economics “astrology.”

It is not surprising that Marx’s Capital’s sub-title was " A Critique of Political Economy"

This essay is an interesting read:

“…economics has moved from being the observation of verifiable phenomena and argumentation developed from this into being an entire pseudo-science which today finds expression in the construction of increasingly elaborate economic models…”

Currently reading The Value of Everything: Making and Taking in the Global Economy, by Mariana Mazzucato. I’m only a few chapters in, but it’s been eye-opening and edifying so far. As alanjjohnston commented, the field in its “classical” period included politics and philosophy and was called “political economy,” and what constituted productive “value” changed depending on the political needs of the powerful and avaricious. Can’t wait for her promised unmasking of the self-styled wealth “creators” as wealth “extractors.” And yes, some of these “creators” create about as much value as an astrological prediction.

The problem with Right Wing ideology is that their own death is not a factor in the calculation. Only profit is.

We must merge economics with the ecology.
We could call it ecolonomics.

Ecology always comes first.

Ecology will certainly have the final say.

That’s right. Because Mother Nature doesn’t negotiate.

Though Republicans have declared corporations “persons,” their mantra of personal responsibility apparently doesn’t apply to corporate persons. And as far as socialists giving away free stuff, I guess its ok to give free stuff to corporate persons such as use of the commons.

Corporations don’t need air to breathe or fresh water to drink.
Give the ones that are irrevocably damaging humans and the speciesystem the corporate death penalty.

I don’t even give economics the soft science pass.
It is pure ideology, a fabrication, imposed upon society. Not related to science at all. But the decepticons are always happy to misappropriate any label that grants some legitimacy and apply it to corrupt schemes to conceal the truth about economics as ideology.

Mazzucato also does a great take down of the government/private sector myth. That myth holds firmly to discredited belief that only private enterprise operates with efficiency. Only the private sector can provide what the market requires. Both ‘principles’ are inaccurate and misleading claims.

When their models don’t work, they just double down on elitist capitalist domination. Their models are so good that they can’t even tell when the next collapse is coming, even though they are in charge of its creation.
But when a climate science model doesn’t predict the weather two years from tomorrow, it’s a crisis that undermines climate change science and the whole thing should be thrown out the window.
If dominating corruption was any clearer, we would have those two words tattooed on all our foreheads.

It seems redundant to pick on a single agency of the trump administration. He has aided them all to pursue greed and flip the bird at science. Thanks for the positive work your career expoused.
