In Hit to Devos and For-Profit Colleges, Court Ruling Delivers 'Major Victory' for Defrauded Students

Julia Conley, staff writer

The Department of Education was forced on Tuesday to implement an Obama-era student debt relief rule that it has delayed for over a year, after a U.S. District Court rejected attempts by the Trump administration and an industry group to convince the court that the rule is unfair to for-profit colleges.

"Aye, there’s the rub . . . "   You bet they will continue to challenge the ruling, and with Ka-Ka-Kavanaugh now on the Sub-Prime Court it’s a foregone conclusion that when the For-Profit College Korporations People appeal to $COTUS they’ll have their right to rip off the rest of us upheld in a 5-4 decision.

Complete takeover of the US “democracy” by looting-class corporate stooges.

Any “resistance” that merits the name, will see clearly that the neoliberal Democrats have played a key role over the past forty years, along with the neoliberal Republicans, in turning this country over to shamelessly predatory looters. The ongoing, feel-it-in-your-gut, feel-it-in-your-debt, watch-your-family-suffer sell-out of our lives, families, wealth, and communities to the looters, absolutely set the stage for Trump, and the hard-core fascism that is now stepping onto the stage.

“Resistance” means far more than denouncing or making fun of Trump, or voting “blue.” It means living our lives in actual resistance to selling our souls to the entrenched systems of corporate looting-class evil, while simultaneously confronting the thugs who are now stepping forward to witlessly enforce it.

It is very refreshing to see the judiciary come down on the side of defrauded citizens, but as others have mentioned, it’s not over yet. Now that Kavanaugh is on the bench, this terrific gain could easily be lost.

Hoping for the best.
