Humanity is Purging the Idolatry of Oppression

This has been building for a long time. It could have been done in an orderly, thoughtful way, but oppressors gotta oppress.

WOW! All I can say is…finally! Now if we can deal with those images on Mt Rushmore, that daily show the oppression and attempted elimination of Indigenous peoples.

Come on Manhattan: Topple and destroy that statute of Columbus on “Columbus Circle” and, while you are at it rename it to Indigenous Circle.

Quoted in the article:
“It’s not the erasure of history that the right fear,” tweeted Guardian columnist Owen Jones. “It’s that our full history will be remembered, including the horrors of colonialism, and that will force us to reassess our present.”

Yes, precisely. And this:
“Confederates weren’t just vicious racists and traitors, they were also losers,” said Grim. “They lost a single election and quit the country, then lost the war and pretended to surrender so they could try terrorism instead. Losers and cowards.”

Yes, yes, and YES!

Huge props to everyone taking down these racist horror symbols, and to everyone in the Movement for Black Lives whose fearlessness and rage have brought us to this moment. Grassroots globalization for justice!

I guess we will have to go through the same kind of distancing ourselves from the confederate flag as we did with the Nazi flag. There will always be some that can’t give it up.

A salute to AIM:

From Neil J. Smith (~www.literarytongues.com), African-Bahamian writer, former Defense Captain in the original Black Panther and boxer:

  • The first attacks against natures is an armed assault against its first defenders --indigenous peoples. That is, the forefront of the wildernesses defense, the lungs of our world; and in civilizations assault against native peoples lurks the seeds of racism. And shortly after these native peoples are conquered, the wilderness falls to the woodsman ax. Hence nature retreats at the onslaught of civilization, and her defenders are belittled, dehumanized and humiliated as lesser persons stripped of their rightful place in the Universal order. Hence, the birth of racism, colonization, slavery, and the fall of humanity as we know it." [Emphasis mine]

I hope somebody sets up a two-column truth and falsehood breakdown of the meme of Columbus, the texts and writs of royalty like the Dum diversas, it extended to the Catholic nations of Europe dominion over discovered lands during the Age of Discovery. Along with sanctifying the seizure of non-Christian lands, it encouraged the enslavement of native, non-Christian peoples in Africa and the New World.

“We weighing all and singular the premises with due meditation, and noting that since we had formerly by other letters of ours granted among other things free and ample faculty to the aforesaid King Alfonso – to invade, search out, capture, vanquish, and subdue all Saracens and pagans whatsoever, and other enemies of Christ wheresoever placed, and the kingdoms, dukedoms, principalities, dominions, possessions, and all movable and immovable goods whatsoever held and possessed by them and to reduce their persons to perpetual slavery, and to apply and appropriate to himself and his successors the kingdoms, dukedoms, counties, principalities, dominions, possessions, and goods, and to convert them to his and their use and profit – by having secured the said faculty, the said King Alfonso, or, by his authority, the aforesaid infante, justly and lawfully has acquired and possessed, and doth possess, these islands, lands, harbors, and seas, and they do of right belong and pertain to the said King Alfonso and his successors”

And that is but an introduction

Sound familiar?

Its our responsibility to build the sound foundation for future generations

Those Papal Bulls are a lot of bull! This is what should be taught in schools, not bs about Columbus and “the Pilgrims.”

Didn’t Nikki Haley recently praise South Carolina’s resumption of flying confederate flags ?

From the NYT:

[Haley] told the conservative radio host Glenn Beck that the Confederate flag symbolized “service, sacrifice and heritage” for some people in her state until Dylann S. Roof “hijacked” it.

Like my Native American spouse says: the narrative that Columbus discovered America is and has been an insult to her people for far too long. Giovanna-Lepore, are you Native, American?

Didn’t a foursome of trump officials all stand and lie to our faces on camera again. No shame just constant lies. The flag is just an outlier for them.

Can’t really topple them like a statue, and hate to further blow up the mountain. But there’s gotta be a way…

17 miles from Mt. Rushmore a cliff sculpture of Crazy Horse is being completed that dwarfs the Mt. Rushmore sculptures.

Replaced with: Chiefs, Red Cloud; Crazy Horse, Joseph and too many others to name here!

The plantation owner mentality won’t go away easily. We have a version of it with company owners treating their employees with today’s version of sexism, union busting, and wage disparity. And white workers are included.

That’s a good thing.
