Invasive 'French Patriot Act' Moves Forward, Spurring Privacy Concerns

Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

The lower house of the French Parliament on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved a measure authorizing expansive, unprecedented, and invasive surveillance of citizens and foreigners, with little judicial oversight.

The new spying powers, developed over the course of the last year, gained momentum in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris in January that killed 17 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a kosher grocery in Paris.

Hollande appears to to be the French version of Obama, only over there he can claim to be "a socialist" the way our president claims to be "a liberal." Hollande has waged aggressive wars, playing a key part in the destruction of Libya and and wading into francophone Africa numerous times. And now, bien sue, ramping up surveillance. And Marine LePen can play the crazy rightwing role of our own GOP nut brigade, making hacks like Hollande appear the lesser of two evils.

I can not think of many political parties the world over that could be deemed "socialist". Most have become co-opted by the system and by money and the lure of power.

The word itself is being co-opted when people like Bernie Sanders and Hollande and Muclair called "Socialists". They are KILLING the meaning of the word itself so as to kill socialism.

"when words lose their meaning , the people lose their freedom" Confucius
