Here’s the foreign policy question of questions in 2019: Are President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, all severely weakened at home and with few allies abroad, reckless enough to set off a war with Iran? Could military actions designed to be limited -- say, a heightening of the Israeli bombing of Iranian forces inside Syria, or possible U.S. cross-border attacks from Iraq, or a clash between American and Iranian naval ships in the Persian Gulf -- trigger a wider war?
Squeezing the pimple that is Iran’s lack of deference to the U$-Zio plan may just result in an abscess. Bet on such stupidity. History is full of precedent.
The distractor-in-chief realized long ago that the way to keep his base from defecting is to keep the tempo on his reality TV campaign (that never ended and never will end) elevated with a never ending stream of boogeymen to fight, ranging from contriving caravan invasions to provoking war with North Korea and more war in the Middle East.
As we get closer to the 2020 election Trump will need lots of boogeyman fights in progress to keep his base chanting loud…Iran will be one of many.
The House needs to tell Trump to stick his insane budget proposals where the sun don’t shine. Then tell him they are cutting off all war funding for big daddy warbucks, ( The MIC). Trump is spending like a crack addict, up a notch from Bush’s drunken sailor routine.
“Is a war with Iran on the horizon?”
Everyone had better hope not.
"Is a war with Trump and the Republicans on the horizon?"
What kind of war?
Are you talking about the same House that just proved that it follows Israel’s orders?
The US army is also itching for a chance to demonstrate its ATLAS autonomous AI killing machines:
War will always be on the horizon for as long as the oligarchs control our country and can find profit for the MIC.
