It's Official: Unabashed Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Now Youngest Women Ever Elected to Congress

#61

You mean kind of like the " MAGIC BULLET"?

#62

An easy check on bios, reveals that Congresswoman-Elect Ocasio-Cortez is younger, having turned 29 on October 13, and born in 1989. Congresswoman-Elect Finkenauer was born December 13, 1988. Enter the young! And I wish them the best in their service in Congress.

Anatomical Sciences.

Interesting: I didn’t realize that Robert Palmer’s version of “Bad Case of Loving You” was the one that put the song on the charts in 1979. I thought it came out much earlier; but, it was written and first performed only a year earlier by Moon Martin, who, for a while, shacked up with Linda Ronstadt.

Btw, I’ve been enjoying your choices of music.

#64

Hope you’re right…

#65

Lots of people agree with you.

Thanks for the link. I need to watch this.

I don’t know what real unemployment figures Sanders is giving; but, I would tend to go with those on ShadowStats.com at the following link, which indicates a current unemployment rate of 21%

Also, please note the link on that page to a Public Commentary on Unemployment

I guess, according to WSWS, the answer to this question would be “no”…

As for the DSA, the organization itself, the magazine with which it is affiliated, Jacobin , and the broader pseudo-left milieu which promotes the DSA, are fully integrated into the foreign policy consensus of American imperialism. They applaud the supposed Syrian revolution, which is a right-wing Islamist insurgency financed by the CIA and armed by Saudi Arabia. They denounce Russia and China as “imperialist” powers and generally back US efforts to confront these rivals.

#67

Indeed, and furthermore she is now pledging to “work boldly” with Republicans and Trump serving up the same Corporate Democrat propaganda of “bipartisanship”.

It is fucking dismal to watch. Trump should have no worries whatsoever with Nancy at the helm.

#68

That would make sense. After all, someone who calls herself a Democratic Socialist but runs in the Democratic Party and calls for Democratic votes is a Democrat, whatever her other allegiances might be.

On the other hand, Joe Crowley is no great loss, is he?

It strikes me that the danger in a false candidate has a lot to do with disinformation, but that the danger in that is very real, and that the disinformation appears to be extremely durable.

That is, once people get the idea that Party A or B is the good people, they become extremely resistant to information that appears to contradict the assumption. And so we get these ongoing apologias for Obama and Clinton or Bush or Trump, depending.

#69

Her election should scare all of us, Dem’s and Repub’s. If any of you have seen her interviews, you would soon realize that she is totally unqualified to be in a position of influence in our government. But, she comes from a majority Democrat district, so no surprise she won.

Call me –

Will look at your link on stats re unemployment later – and thank you! 21%???

I don’t know what real unemployment figures Sanders is giving; but, I would tend to go with those on ShadowStats.com at the following link, which indicates a current unemployment rate of 21%

What’s being reported now isn’t believable as I think there were more than 25 million long term
unemployed – and many, many more who simply gave up looking.

And, looks like “socialism” has varying ideals – some which oddly enough concur with Elite ideals!!

Now, this is the stuff we really need to understand – thank you!

And beyond our own minds and hearts, is there anywhere to unite with others on some real democratc
ideals?

I should have added that former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy (under Reagan), Paul Craig Roberts, who has a Ph.D. in economics (see his credentials here) agrees with the John Williams’ ShadowStats numbers, for both unemployment and inflation

I would guess that we’d first have to agree on what, exactly, are “real democratic ideals”? My list would likely differ greatly from Nancy Pelosi’s.

Callme –

Would really recommend that everyone look at your links –

My last recall of what Bernie Sanders suggested was real figure of unemployment was a
few years back and I think it was 15%. This was likely when government was saying 5+%.

And, thank you for including the info on INFLATION!! –

And the inflation rate of 6%+ in 2009 corresponds with the “W” spending which probably would
have at the least doubled the rate of the then COLA’s and presumably it just couldn’t be done
and likely why Obama stopped them for two full years.

But whether unemployment or inflation, obviously GOP has been working to once again limit
employment and add to the rate of inflation with the tremendous debt. But always ironic that they
will bash Dems for the debt and increasing it.

Thanks for the info – and I will save the links for future info.

And on this question … my error as I intended to say democratic SOCIALIST ideals?

is there anywhere to unite with others on some real democratic (Socialist) ideals?

Think what we know of the New Deal would have to be the base of thinking – as not only did it
happen and was carried through into even our present still with Social Security still existing –
but the records and memories of those who experienced it would likely suggest that “ideals” can
be turned into reality and create great societies. It does shock me really that they were able to
knock out unemployment compensation/insurance which I think was perpetual with some slight interruptions?

Again, thanks for the links which I will save and recommend –
