Jane Doe’s Ordeal Illustrates the Trump Administration’s Threat to All Women’s Reproductive Rights

Brigitte Amiri

"Trump has vowed to appoint Supreme Court justices that would overturn Roe, and earlier this month, the Trump Administration rolled back the Affordable Care Act’s contraception coverage requirement."

In just the first six months of 2017, state legislators in six states introduced measures to ban all abortions, and legislators in 28 states introduced measures to ban abortions under some circumstances, all of them supported by the Trump administration.

Forced maternity is just one of the regressive social values that affect women with higher rates of maternal deaths that are prevalent in states that don’t provide women with reproductive health care.

In Italy, maternal leave is 5 months of paid leave. That is in addition to the 12 weeks vacation time and 12 paid national holidays.

I sometimess tell friends who are antiabortion for what they say are religious reasons that if they were really spiritually sincere about not wanting preborn lives to be taken, they ought to be there ready to adopt, or be ready to subsidize the child’s life through the end its teenage years, or organize a child support collective of some sort.

Plus they ought to be strong backers and supporters/sponsors of comprehensive birth control education that educates (beyond “just say no”) people on all they ways they can be sexually active without unplanned pregnancies. Of course most of the impassioned anti’s are just as much opposed to birth control as they are too abortion. Some of them actually equate the two calling the birth control pill the “prenatal abortion pill.”

just cannot understand the reasoning of those who deny abortion and also deny bitth control, Do they not realize birth control would lower and/or eliminate the need/desire for abortion that women face. Religion be damned.
