Jimm Carter: Citizens United 'Gives Legal Bribery a Chance to Prevail'

Andrea Germanos, staff writer

Former U.S. President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter has taken aim at the "erroneous" Supreme Court ruling that "gives legal bribery a chance to prevail."

Carter made the comments, an apparent reference to the 2010 Citizens United ruling, in an interview Wednesday with the BBC's "Today" program.

Citizens United should be called Citizens Divided. Money speaks louder than words.

Thank you Jimmy Carter

Citizens United is named for the case in which a movie made by the group Citizens United about Hillary Clinton went to the SCOTUS. Here is a 2010 discussion with Glen Greenwald and Prof. Larry Lessig moderated by Cenk on Young Turks.
The movie banned in 2008 seems emblematic of the ruthless beltway culture of corruption of governance through the authoritarian voice in mass media. This resulting in the SCOTUS decision seems to me to be two sides of the same coin.
