Even most leftish white Americans like to think that their country is good and its institutions are fair and equitable. According to this wishful thinking human rights abuses only happen in faraway places and injustices here are resolved by reining in a few bad apples. The facts say otherwise and prove that the United States is consistently one of the worst human rights violators in the world.
“The worst criminals are outside of the prison walls.”
No shit. Start at the top and work your way down.

I certainly don’t know any ‘leftish’ folk that obtuse. I do know a fair number of knuckle head ‘rightish’ people that believe that sort of crap.
But at the everyday level we have no one standing up for the oppression.
No one with any clout deflects the innunendo and repression that keeps good lives from blossoming.
True, but at some point people band together and then all hell breaks loose.
Completely agree. Unlike Hitler, Trump and Arpaio are not anomalies. A nation that still refuses to acknowledge its foundation and perpetuation of genocide and slavery will continue to spread its sickness around the globe.
Joe Arpaio Is No Aberration
Right 35% PLUS of Americans are Nazis … and no one observes the Constitution prohibition of cruel or unusual punishment.
Thank you Margaret Kimberley, for helping to keep this national scandal in front of us. We all need to be reminded that, while we are distracted by foreign wars, weather-related disasters, and the daily insanity pouring forth from the White House and the Halls of Congress, our “criminal justice” system grinds on and on and on, destroying the lives of people’s sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and friends. To think that our system is “fair” or “just” in any way requires one to be blind, deaf and dumb; or even worse, totally lacking in empathy.
Joe Arpaio is no better than any of the Nazi concentration camp officers who were captured and tried at Nuremberg, As you point out, however, there are many more with his mindset who do not seek the spotlight. This is an issue that has been getting ever worse over the last few years, and it is a much greater threat, ultimately, to our national security than N. Korea and/or the Taliban could ever be!
Murka has refined the art and science of blaming and prosecuting victims while rewarding perpetrators.
Can you say “police state” ?
