Well on January 21, 2017, Obama will be out of office and Trump, with a Republican Congress behind him will close Gitmo. Trump has promised to close Gitmo, you know.

Didn't Trump say Gitmo was less than 20% full and he would fill it ?

Might be OK if he fills it with DC politicians. They could rename it the bipartisan club.

"It was just deemed too difficult to get through all of the hurdles"

Yeh Protecting Human Rights is like that.

What was that about being a Constitutional Lawyer from Harvard.

A broken clock is right twice a day, but it's still broke.

Just too difficult... But, other things weren't too difficult for the meatpuppet in the Offal Office.
Since Obama was first elected, somehow he:

Signed the Patriot Act extension into law.
Signed off on and defended in court the Indefinite Detention provisions of the NDAA.
Dropped bombs in 7 Muslim countries.
Launched 20,000 Airstrikes in his first term.
Started a new "war on terror" - this one on ISIS, a Neocon creation.
Continued Bush's rendition program.
Waged war on Libya without congressional approval.
Started a covert drone war in Yemen.
Escalated the proxy war in Somalia.
Escalated the CIA drone war in Pakistan.
Sharply escalated the war in Afghanistan.
Assassinated US citizens with drone strikes.
Bragged about his use of drones - I'm "really good at killing people".
Kept the war in Iraq going.
Planned a new, Trillion Dollar nuclear weapons program.
Initiated, and personally oversees a 'Secret Kill List'.
Pushed for war on Syria while siding with al-Qaeda.
Backed neo-Nazis in Ukraine.
Supported Israel's wars and occupation of Palestine.
Drastically escalated the NSA spying program.
Deployed Special Ops to 134 countries - compared to 60 under Bush.
Signed the NDAA into law - making it legal to assassinate Americans w/o charge or trial.
Gave Bush and his administration absolute immunity for war crimes..
Sold $30 billion of weapons to the racist, sexist, extremist dictatorship of Saudi Arabia.
Touted nuclear power, even after the disaster in Japan.
Opened up deepwater oil drilling, in Alaska and off the East Coast for the first time in decades.
Mandated the Insider Threat Program which orders federal employees to report suspicious actions of their colleagues.
Defended body scans and pat-downs at airports.
Deported a modern-record 2 million immigrants.
Signed off on $8 billion in cuts to Food Stamps, an unprecedented betrayal of the poor.
Signed the Monsanto Protection Act into law.
Pushed for the TPP, the most destructive "free" Trade Pact in American history.

It seems that when Barack Obama really wants to get something done... he gets it done.

Why don't you check the facts out for yourself? Trump supports greatly expanding Guantanamo and expanded use of torture through laws legalizing it.

#16

You missed my attempt at parody of "leftists for Trump" too.

#17

Great list, thanks!

#18

Obama has never been serious about human rights -- it' just not on his neocon-infested administration's radar.

#19

Oh, he's just too tired after all those hours planning who to kill next, what country to invade next, and how he can prosecute more whistleblowers. It's tough being the slaughterer-in-chief.

#20

"Obama admits defeat" will be his legacy.

#21

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it! I don't trust any godammed reptoxicon on earth b/c how can you tell when a politician/congressman is lying? HIS LIPS ARE MOVING! Besides, the obadrone and his reptoxidembrats have told far too many LIES to NOT be executed!

#23

What a surprise.

#24

more like "Obama orchestrates 'defeat'."
