Kirstjen Nielsen’s Brutal and Calamitous Leadership of the Department of Homeland Security Comes to an End

Brian Tashman
Late Sunday, President Trump announced that Kirstjen Nielsen has resigned as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Trump said that Kevin McAleenan, the commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), will serve as Acting Secretary.

Nielsen’s tenure as head of one of the country’s largest government agencies was a humanitarian catastrophe, consistently showing a clear disregard for civil rights and people’s lives.

Wow. It seems odd for the ACLU to write this – “Kirstjen Nielsen’s Brutal and Calamitous Leadership of the Department of Homeland Security Comes to an End” – and go through the entire article’s litany of her horrific tenure at the fascistic “Department of Homeland Security,” without noting that she was fired because she is not “brutal and calamitous” enough.

Not exactly a victory for humanity and decency.

Which is an example of reading more than one source of information is important. When the Nielsen’s departure was first broadcast the fact that she was fired for not being evil enough was not developed until an article about her trip with the con-man to the AZ Mex border was written. She actually refused to carry out a most recent demand from con-man.

No. It doesn’t come to an end. It gets passed on to someone who will even be worse. Nielsen refused to break the law for Trump. The next leader will and the Republicans will protect him or her in Congress even if a judge rules against DHS. Laws will now be ignored completely by Trump.
